THIS AND THAT........Thursday

Last night we issued an email alert regarding the release of Terrell Owens & after I pass on the next bit of speculation, I hope to refrain from mentioning his name for a while. To say I'm not a fan is an understatement, he's the most disruptive & divisive NFL player in a long time, maybe ever. If anyone has a candidate for this dubious award, please send it along in the comment section. What's next for #81? His PITA (Pain in the ass) nature aside, he is still a productive receiver but at his age, things can decline in a hurry. Who would be willing to take this living, breathing carcinogenic into their locker room?  Two owners who have shown the willingness to disregard a player's bad history are Daniel Snider of the Redskins & of course, Al Davis. Raider QB JaMarcus Russell already has a confidence problem, bringing Owens in would most likely help Russell move to the top of the "bust" list. It should be noted the third owner who willingly takes in the bad boys & tries to rehab them, just released him. Jerry Jones is now 0 for 3 in his last three reclamation projects, PacMan Jones, Tank Marshall & now Owens. Denver's Brandon Marshall may only be a couple of arrests & a suspension away from being a Cowboy.

In the free agent backup QB signing derby, San Francisco inked Ex-Chief Damon Huard and Denver signed former Buc Chris Simms.

While surfing the net yesterday I spotted this gem on the web site of New York's WFAN. During the Mike & the Maddog show, host Mike Francessa asked FOXSports NFL Insider, Jay Glazer, which team of the 11 that changed head coaches and assistants look to be the best. Glazer replied "Kansas City, except for Chan Gailey, they're all young & they're good".

Speaking of the Chiefs, I believe if they want to trade down out of their #3 overall pick, there will be suitors. If Detroit takes Georgia QB Matt Stafford, it will enhance their chances of making this happen. That leaves USC's Mark Sanchez & then the big drop off down to Josh Freeman. Tampa Bay, Minnesota, San Francisco, the Jets, possibly the Bears and Seattle could all be candidates to pick Sanchez. Seattle picks 4th, right behind the Chiefs, so they could eliminated. Plus,  I think they hope to get a year or two more from Matt Hasselback & they have a glaring need at DT. If Minnesota wants to draft him, they will have to move up from #22, the lowest position of the teams I listed. The Jets & Bucs are the most likely candidates, but if Detroit doesn't take Stafford as expected, all of this speculation goes down the drain.
