BOY, THAT WAS QUICK!

Apparently every phone line was lit up at Bronco headquarters this afternoon & then suddenly it was over. The Jay Cutler era in Denver is over, boy, that was quick! The Chicago Bears traded two #1 picks, a 3rd round pick, their starting quarterback, Kyle Orton for Cutler & a 2009 5th round pick. Denver now has their #1 pick, the 12th overall & Chicago's, which is the 18th overall pick.

The Bears meanwhile have solved one of their lingering problems, a playmaker at the QB position. I saw that Orlando Pace visited with the Bears today, they should do everything within their power to sign him. They also need a couple of wide receivers, a pass rusher & a backup QB. There are a number of free agent quarterbacks available, so that shouldn't be a problem. Another ex-Ram out there visiting, looking for a new team is Torry Holt, another possibility. There are several other F/A possibilities, but I think Chicago will need to use their 2nd round pick on a wideout. Brian Robiskie, Louis Murphy, Derrick Williams & Brandon Tate would all be 2nd round possibilities.

Denver really has taken a step backwards, it's not even certain they can get Stafford or Sanchez picking 12th. They will probably have to trade up & if Detroit selects Stafford with the #1 overall pick the price for trading up for Sanchez will get very steep. I think Detroit will now Stafford, two very good young guns in their division now, they'll need to keep pace.  Not only do the Broncos want him, but so do Jacksonville & possibly Seattle or San Francisco. Let's not forget the Redskins, who may have opened up their own can of worms when they got into the Cutler auction. How does Jason Campbell take all of this? The Skins were supposedly very near concluding a deal right before the Bears got it done. Then there's Tampa Bay & Minnesota, bot desperate for a new QB.
