WATERS IN CAMP NO SURPRISE HERE

Ever since the overblown dust up between Chiefs' Pro Bowl guard, Brian Waters & new head coach, Todd Haley, both the Kansas City media & bloggers from coast to coast have put in their 2 cents worth about Waters' future with the Chiefs. After initially telling you all about the spat between the two over at One Arrowhead Drive, I've stayed away from it because I didn't think it would amount to anything. I responded to The Kansas City Star's blog, The Red Zone, on Wednesday. They've had numerous stories about Waters.

I posted "Wait till Friday, if Waters shows up for the mandatory mini camp, forget about apologies, it's over. If he fails to show, then I think he'll be traded. If he shows up on Friday, don't expect either of them to talk much about it. If he doesn't, the war of words will commence with Waters again demanding a trade. I like Waters a lot, respect his ability & play. You don't have to be a genius to see the Chiefs really need him. Let's hope he shows on Friday, I think he will".

That about exactly what happened. He showed up, he said he was glad to be back with his teammates, practicing, lifting weights & learning the new offense. He said nothing about being traded. Haley said even less. "He's here, he's practicing. He's here, he's working, trying to learn what we're teaching, we obviously need as many players as we can get."

These are two very strong personalities, just let them cool off for a couple of months & things will eventually go back to normal or whatever 'normal' is in the NFL. I can sympathize with other writers, reporters & bloggers as they dig hard to find a story in the off-season, it's tough. Being a blogger who can write whatever I want, whenever I want, is much easier than being assigned a story & a deadline. I just thought this one wouldn't end up being anything more than filler.

Mike Vrabel also made his first appearance this spring as well. His absence from the OTA's were explained as 'exercising his right under the collective bargaining agreement to opt out of the voluntary workouts', but Vrabel added he was happy to be a Kansas City Chief. I wonder how sincere he really is about being a Chief. We'll soon see.
