A FEW REVELATIONS & MORE QUESTIONS IN MCNAIR MURDER
The Nashville Police Department & the District Attorney office have yet to make their findings in the Steve McNair/Sahel Kazemi deaths official. They said the one thing lacking in the case is a viable motive for Kazemi to shoot McNair 4 times & then take her own life. There are some mitigating factors that have come out & I guess each one will have to be investigated before they can tie, what appears to be a murder/suicide, this up to everyone's satisfaction.
Kazemi was arrested for a DUI last Thursday. McNair was in the passenger seat. The cop that stopped Kazemi & arrested her was the same cop, Shawn Taylor, who arrested McNair in 2003 for DUI. During McNair's stop, he refused to take a Breathalyzer test, but Taylor continued to demand McNair take the test, which is against department policy. Taylor was later suspended for 3 days for this violation. As soon as she was stopped, Kazemi told office Taylor she wasn't drunk, but high. When it became apparent she was going to be arrested, McNair said "I have to go, my wife doesn't know anything about all this" & he was permitted to take a cab home. The traffic stop wasn't all Mechelle McNair wasn't aware of. Kazemi & McNair had been on 4 vacations together including Las Vegas & the Bahamas.
After Kazemi was released on bail Thursday, she bought the handgun that ultimately killed McNair & her. Miss Kazemi was only 20-years old, so how was she able to purchase a handgun legally? Was the gun bought on the street? Did someone buy it for her? The police aren't saying anything about the source of the weapon & how it was obtained.
Also coming out this morning, Sahel Kazemi listed all of her furniture for sale on Craigslist & in The Tennessean newspaper. She did this last Thursday soon after she was charged with DUI. Her family claims she was moving in with McNair as his divorce would soon be final. Trouble is, there were no separation or divorce paperwork or proceedings in the works. There wasn't even any discussions. Did McNair lie to her to keep the relationship going? Did Miss Kazemi read more into their relationship than there actually was? Maybe she sensed McNair was going to breakup with her or maybe someone filled her head with ideas. I think one of these, maybe a combination of all of them, points to the reason why she bought a gun & sometime Saturday, she used it.
Any more intrigue regarding this case? You bet. It seems Miss Kazemi's former boyfriend, one Keith Norfleet, called The Tennessean to expose McNair's relationship with his former girlfriend. He said he had been called to retrieve the Cadillac Escallade she had been driving before it was to be towed & taken to an impound yard. He told The Tennessean that when he arrived to pick up the SUV, the arresting officer told him the whole story about Kazemi & her passenger, Steve McNair. Did officer Shawn Taylor tell him this story or did Kazemi call him herself to pick up the vehicle & tell him the circumstances during that call?
Keith Norfleet has a lot of unanswered questions regarding any involvement in this case for two other reasons. In January, while he was still involved with Kazemi, she called 911 & had him arrested for throwing a phone at her face. She later dropped the charges. Secondly & of way more interest in what is really becoming a tabloid story, Norfleet, an aspiring rap artist, had written a song recently called "Closed Casket". Beautiful. PFT's Mike Florio published one verse of this love song & it goes as follows:
If you ever do it again bitch, I ain't rappin'
I'm getting a clip, I ain't laffin'
They're wrapping you up for your trip to the morgue
While I'm preparing for my trip to the shore
Don't ignore me, I'm not lyin'
If you ever do it again, you'll die, I promise
Florio also believes the police think Norfleet is too stupid to pull off a double murder & make it look like a murder/suicide. Also from PFT, Crystal Norfleet, Keith's sister, says "Closed Casket" wasn't directed at Steve McNair. But one of Norfleet's running buddies, Jett Jackson, had his MySpace page deleted after a Sunday post. It said "F--k Steve McNair, he will be nothing in '09. R.I.P. Sahel Kazemi".
Last Thursday was a very busy day for Sahel Kazemi. She placed a classified ad to sell her furniture. She got drunk or stoned enough to be arrested. Her former boyfriend was called by her or the police to pickup her SUV so it wouldn't be towed. She bonded out of jail in time to work her shift at Dave & Buster's & buy a handgun in their parking lot, whether legally or illegally is yet to be determined. Yes, it was an eventful day, one that would result in tragedy in less than 48 hours.
I have to say that I don't feel sorry for Steve McNair or Sahel Kazemi, they made a lot of bad decisions & paid for them with their lives. I do feel sorry for his four sons, truly innocent victims in this tragedy.
