PLAXICO'S NFL DAYS LOOK TO BE OVER

The Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Plaxico Burress on 3 charges this morning. He was charged with 2 counts of felony possession of a loaded & unregistered firearm. These charges carry a minimum 3.5 year incarceration per count. The third charge of reckless endangerment carries a minimum 1 year in jail if he is convicted. Burress, who turns 32 on August 12th, appears to be at the end of the line in the NFL. Even with a plea bargain of say 2 years, he'd be 34 when he comes out, plus he'd be a long way from playing shape, so it's hard to imagine an NFL team taking a "shot" at Burress. His attorney, Benjamin Brafman, has said he can't begin a case before March of 2010, so now what will commissioner Roger Goodell do about Burress this season? Since he suspended Michael Vick before his trial 'indefinitely, I see the same thing happening here, so it looks as if Plaxico's NFL days are over.

The same grand jury did not indict former Giant teammate, Antonio Pierce, who probably breathed a sigh of relief audible in most of the tri-state area.
