BURRESS PLEADS GUILTY, GETS 2 YEARS
This morning in a Manhattan court room, Ex-Giant wide receiver Plaxico Burress, plead guilty to one charge of illegal handgun possession in a plea bargain. He had also been charged with one count of discharging a firearm, one count of reckless endangerment & one count of lying to police. Those charges were dropped in the plea agreement. That agreement calls for Burress to serve 2 years in state prison. With good behavior, he could be released in 20 months. He will also be subject to 24 months of supervised release, his attorney, Benjamin Brafman, argued Burress had no plan to live in the Manhattan area after his release so that part of the sentence could be reduced. The judge didn't agree, although formal sentencing won't occur until September 22nd. Burress' NFL is effectively over. Wouldn't it be nice if young players in every sport actually learned a lesson from Burress' mistakes?
