DALTON DISMISSED FROM MIZZOU PROGRAM
Only a few hours after I wrote about kids being dismissed from big football programs & how seldom they reach their athletic or personal potential after transferring to another school, another prominent player has been sent packing. Blaine Dalton, formerly of Blue Springs South High, was dismissed from the Missouri Football program for the usual, "violation of team conduct policy". Dalton was one of the most highly recruited quarterbacks in the country. Neither Coach Pinkel or the University had further comment but The Columbia Missourian said in a late edition, Dalton was stopped near campus at 1:16 AM Friday morning. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI, operating an unregistered vehicle & failing to drive within a single lane. This is Dalton's second arrest since arriving on campus for spring semester. He was arrested after another traffic stop for having a bottle of Hydrocodone that wasn't his prescription, an unopened can of beer & an illegal left turn. A former high school teammate claimed he had left the pain pills in Dalton's car while he was visiting in March. Those charges were dropped but Dalton paid a fine of $387 for the beer & the turn. I'd like to see Dalton enroll in a junior college & then maybe next year he could try at another Division 1 school. He's got to clean up his act & decide which is more important, football & school or drinking & driving.
