MORE BAD KARMA FOR TROJANS

Seems like every couple of days some bad karma rears its' ugly head out in LaLa Land. After I admonished USC coach Pete Carroll for essentially stating the Trojans are invincible, they've been anything but. One injury after another has befallen the Men of Troy in their quest to remain "a top-5 team for the foreseeable future". Today in a scrimmage they lost their #2 receiver, junior Ronald Johnson, with a broken clavicle. Johnson caught 33 passes in '08 for 570 yards & 8 touchdowns. He will be lost for 6-8 weeks. He is the 4th starter who will miss at least the first 2 games to injury. That's 25% of their returning starters.

Newly named starter Matt Barkley, a true freshman quarterback, didn't wow anybody in today's scrimmage. He was 6 of 11 for 113 yards & an interception. Not really that bad, except, it was against the freakin' scout team, made up of 2nd & 3rd teamers. Mr. Barkley will find playing Ohio State, Oregon & Cal, all on the road, to be somewhat tougher than the scout team. I'm telling you, that National Championship trophy falling apart was an omen.
