THIS & THAT..........THE EARLY WEDNESDAY EDITION
The NFL distributed it's new "Social Network Policy" to all 32 teams. It states the league's policy that can be strengthened by teams but cannot be watered down. No team personnel may use Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or any other social network that is accessible by telephone, cellular phone or internet for a period of 90-minutes before kickoff until 90-minutes after the games completion. No exceptions will be tolerated. How long can Chad Ochocinco go without violating this new policy? He claims over 137,000 followers on Twitter. Someone will get nailed soon, right? I make the over/under 3 1/2 weeks.
A very disturbing story has emerged about the Washington Redskins & their relationship with 15 different ticket brokers(legal scalpers). Through an internal audit, it was found several Redskin ticket office employees were selling tickets to ticket brokers like stubhub.com for a little extra income. Washington owner Daniel Snyder was said to be livid over the revelation. But no one has been fired, so far, "just disciplined". A story like this raises the question how is it thousands of tickets can be sold within 5 minutes of when they went on sale. It just plants seeds of doubt in the minds of fans looking to buy tickets from the teams at face value & not have to pay a premium for the privilege of watching an NFL game in person.
Oklahoma State has lost their second starter in less than 12 hours. Linebacker Orie Lemon suffered a torn ACL & will be lost for the season. The Cowboys tight end, Jamie Mosely, quit the team today. The Cowboys don't need any distractions in the run-up to their monster showdown with Georgia, Saturday in Stillwater.

Only 13 games over 5 days, a nice warmup for the regular season, have to get our eyes & brains ready for the usual 25-30 games every weekend. My new glasses should be here by Thursday, I need to get used to blended trifocals.
Erin Andrews taped an Oprah Winfrey show that will be aired on September 11th. She talked about the outlaw internet video that someone got from a hidden camera in her hotel room. She is nude in the 5-minute video, I never saw it, honest. Anyway she goes on to talk about how it turned her life upside down, satellite trucks in front of her house, paparazzi following her everywhere, you know the victim being victimized further by the stand-up people in the media. She had to hire a private detective to hunt down the source of the video, he hasn't so far, an attorney, plus a security man to get her thru throngs of cameras & tabloid reporters. She said she was thrilled to be going back to work doing sideline reporting on ESPN college football telecasts. We're thrilled too. She will be a part of the telecast when S. Carolina meets N. Carolina State.
