A MAJOR INJURY FOR OU & SOME VERY QUICK THOUGHTS

The best tight end in college football won't be playing Saturday night. Oklahoma's Jermaine Gresham sustained what they're calling "cartilage damage" & will be lost for an unknown period of time. The Sooners take on BYU in the "Jones-Mahal" Saturday & their TE depth is really shaky. Gresham is the lone returning receiver for OU. His backup, Brody Eldridge, was moved over to center for an injury replacement & the undersized former TE has to stay in the pivot. Two sophomores, Trent Ratterree & James Hanna, will fill in. These 2 have exactly 1 college reception between them. Gresham was a shoe-in 1st round draft pick next April before this injury.

Michael Vick met with Commissioner Roger Goodell today & this afternoon it was announced Vick could return in week 3, when the Chiefs come to town.

I know it's preseason & all but I'd be slightly nervous if I was coaching the Colt defense. They gave up 296 rushing yards to the Bengals.

Undrafted Steeler rookie, Stefan Logan, returned a punt 80-yards for a touchdown tonight. It should cement his roster spot, he's been nothing short of amazing during the preseason.

Anybody else already sick of watching the Herm Edwards "you play to win the game" Coors light commercial? Crappy commercial, crappy beer.

Modern technology really let me down tonight. The DirecTV receiver on my big screen decided tonight would be a good time to poop out. Luckily, or should I say unluckily, the Chiefs game was on cable & we didn't miss a single scintillating play. Then when the Boise State/Oregon slugfest ended, I came into the office to put my notes onto the blog. Unfortunately Charter Cable had internet & phone issues. I had to use my cell phone to call in my complaint. They got it fixed after 90-minutes or so. My new DirecTV receiver will be on the way tomorrow by FedEx, I told them if I didn't get it by Thursday, they can poll the plug on all 5 receivers & all my service. We all know that wouldn't happen, can't do without NFL Sunday Ticket.
