CASSEL LIMPING, BLACKOUT WOES & 1 MORE PILE OF CRAP FROM DIRECTV
Reports by Kent Babb of The Kansas City Star say Chiefs' quarterback Matt Cassel limped in & out of the huddle today. Don't know if he tweaked his sprained knee or it's sore from practicing. I have to believe if he's 80%, he'll start on Sunday. Please don't give me that lame argument about how he should dodge those mean old Ravens. If he starts picking & choosing who he'll play against based on how rough & tough their defense is, the guy won't be a starting quarterback in the league for long. His teammates will quit on him very quickly. If you're healthy enough to play, you play, regardless of the opponent or where the game is contested.
The NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals aren't exempt from the blackout blues. The NFL extended their blackout cutoff another 24 hours as the Cardinals have 1,700+ non-premium tickets for Sunday's opener that weren't sold by this afternoon's deadline. The league will extend the cutoff if it looks as tho the team can honestly sell the tickets. Cincinnati & Tampa Bay were also granted extensions. With the crappy economy & such high unemployment, this will continue to be a week-to-week issue.
Chad Ochocinco has returned to Twitter, does that make your day or what? He claims he has a way around the NFL's new social networking ban on game days. If I were owner Mike Brown, a teammate or a Bengal fan, I would want Ochocinco to be as involved in the Bengals effort to win more than 4 crummy games. How he has schemed a way around NFL rules to "Tweet" really wouldn't concern me. Me, me, me, me, look at me, I'm so very important. What you are is sadly pathetic.
Now, in my 15th year with DirecTV, I have come to the conclusion that they are becoming as lame at customer service as most other American companies. The one thing I will say in their favor is that their call centers are still in the United States, you can still be understood by their reps & you can understand them. That said, their product has gone to s*#t. This afternoon I hooked up my 5th receiver of the summer, yeah, I said fifth. I called to activate the receiver & 43 minutes later the person tells me they can't get it activated & someone will contact me in 24-72 hours. Like so many other American companies, DirecTV now believes apparently that my time is worth nothing. Hanging around waiting for FedEx to bring the latest pile of crap that I have to sign for really isn't fair is it? Boxing up the previous pile of crap, calling FedEx for pickup, installing & activating the newer pile of crap is all on the consumer. Then in a few weeks when the newer pile of crap goes bad, we get to repeat the process. I have 2 receivers that turn themselves on, honestly, they turn themselves on without any prompting from us. I have no idea how much power they consume, but I know we're getting screwed there as well, thanks DirecTV. At least those receivers work, for now. Remember when companies would send a technician out to your home to fix their product? That option is dismissed as quickly as I brought it up, not gonna happen. So, because of our love for football, I keep recycling their crap, on my time, thinking this latest pile of crap will finally be the one to end this cycle of frustration. But now we've gotten into deducting money from the bill, something I'm pretty aggressive about & something for which I don't take no for an answer. Sunday morning, before kickoff, I'll have to disconnect a working receiver & connect it to my big screen so that I may fully experience the Chiefs' game in Baltimore. God.....I am sick.
