UPDATES ON A LOT OF INJURIES & MORE
Texas Tech starting QB, Taylor Potts hasn't recovered from the concussion he suffered last week against New Mexico. His back, Steven Sheffield, will start today against Kansas State. Sheffield threw for 240 yards & 3 touchdowns in a relief role last Saturday.
Tim Tebow will play tonight against LSU if the doctors clear him, which may not come until 3 hours before kickoff. John Brantley, who is probably a superior passer to Tebow, would start in his place if he's not cleared to play.
Sam Bradford will start for Oklahoma today against Baylor. He will be without his 2 leading receivers, WR Ryan Broyles & TE Jermaine Gresham. Protecting Gresham against the rush will be paramount for the Sooners.
Michigan's leading rusher, Carlos Brown, will not play today because of a concussion he suffered in Wednesday's practice. Brown, who has gained 336 yards this season, is normally backed up by Brandon Minor, but he has been slow recovering from a high ankle sprain. Tough news when you're going to Iowa City to play a Hawkeye team that hasn't surrendered a rushing touchdown in 33 quarters.
Missouri's 2nd leading tackler, LB Will Ebner, has a knee injury, believed to be a torn meniscus. He will be out indefinitely. No word on QB Blaine Gabbert's ankle sprain.
The Dallas Cowboys will be without 3 impact players for tomorrow's game in Kansas City. WR Roy Williams, RB Felix Jones & S Gerald Sensabaugh will all miss the game.
My plays today are Michigan State -4 at Illinois, South Carolina -9 1/2 vs. Kentucky & LSU +8 vs. Florida.
I am pretty big on trends, especially when they stretch over several years. LSU has won 32 straight on Saturday night at home. The last 6 times the #1 team has played on the road against a 5-0 team, they've lost. I'm not certain the Bayou Bengals will win, but I'm banking on them to cover 8. With the Injuries to the Michigan backfield, I can't make a case for a true freshman QB carrying them to victory, but I don't like Iowa's offense enough to lay 9 1/2 points.
There won't be many picks tomorrow, I just don't like the matchups or the spreads, but I will have one play that may shock you, look for it tonight or tomorrow morning.
