A FEW LATE NIGHT UPDATES
Here's the latest on the Red River Shootout injury situation. Texas running back Vondrell McGee has been cleared to play. His backup, Tre Newton, is expected to be cleared before gametime. Newton suffered a concussion in last week's Colorado game. Ryan Broyles, OU's leading receiver, will also play.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers traded former 1st round draft pick, defensive end Gaines Adams, to the Chicago Bears for a 2nd round draft pick in 2010. The Bears are really rolling the dice, they traded their 1st round pick in the Jay Cutler deal, so now they don't have a first day pick. Adams was the 4th overall pick in the 2007 draft & tho he had a decent start with 12.5 sacks in the first 2 seasons, he has but 1 so far this season & had played himself out of the starting lineup.
I mentioned Friday the 4-1 Cincinnati Bengals were having a hard time selling 3,00 remaining tickets to prevent a blackout. The team has decided to give 1,200 tickets away for free so that the game won't be blacked out locally. The Chargers beat their deadline of Saturday afternoon selling the remaining tickets to insure local TV.
If you have an inkling about a wager on the Baltimore-Minnesota game or you're one of those fantasy football people, listen up. Baltimore left tackle, Jared Gaither will not play Sunday. Rookie Michael Oher will replace Gaither, who suffered a neck injury 2 weeks ago. Oher may be in for a long afternoon, trying to hear the snap count in the Metrodome & somehow blocking Jared Allen. Good luck Michael, Allen thrives in that loud environment.
I'll have a Saturday recap, a Sunday look-ahead, including my pro best bets, late Saturday evening.
