CHIEFS CLAIM CHRIS CHAMBERS OFF WAIVERS
I told you yesterday look for the Chiefs to bring former Charger Chris Chambers thru their revolving door at wide receiver. Well Todd Haley pulled the trigger this afternoon. Chamber is 31 years old, was a 2nd round pick out of Wisconsin in 2001 for the Miami Dolphins. He has 480 lifetime receptions good for 6,813 yards & 54 touchdowns. The 5' 11" 210-pound veteran has been very productive but with the emergence of Malcolm Floyd & San Diego's desperate need for another linebacker, they waived Chambers to clear both a roster spot & cap space. He is still owed $2.4 millions this season, but the Chiefs have a lot of cap space, so it's not a problem. Good news or just another has-been recycled by the Pioli/Haley team? My guess is he really wanted to go with a contender like Baltimore or even back to Miami, but since the Chiefs signed him, I question just how much he'll give them. I think he might have been a real shot in the arm for a better team. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, I've liked Chambers since he was a Badger playing for Barry Alvarrez. One amazing thing about this pickup, Chambers never played for New England or Todd Haley.
