SATURDAY UGLINESS, FRESH SUNDAY CONFIDENCE

Things couldn't have gone much worse for me yesterday, lost all 3 plays I made, Mizzou blew an 11-point halftime lead at home & my gout returned with a vengence. But there's always the hope that the Chiefs might win today, no I haven't been drinking, I've got gout for God's sake! It has become a challenge to see what goes wrong from Sunday to Sunday. I might be getting numb to this crappy football from our boys in red, it's like I'm happy if they play reasonably well, they don't even have to win. How sad is that?

Bernard Pollard is saying he was shocked but glad Todd Haley sent him packing, he was tired of being cursed at all the time. He said Clancy Pendergast & Haley have one form of communication, swearing. I was sort of thinking the same thing as I watched Nebraska's Bo Pelini & Alabama's Nick Saban have absolute meltdowns on the sidelines yesterday. Does this really get thru to a lot of players? I'm not saying they need to hold hands & sing "Kum by ya"(spelling?) but there is a point where all the cursing loses the ear of your player. Pollard is happy in Houston, starting for a winning team. And what did Kansas City get for a starting strong safety? I believe it was nothing, zero, nada, zilch. There are those in the KC media who say Pollard was a PITA in the locker room, so he had to go. Two things on that point, they keep Larry Johnson & I think he's been somewhat of a distraction, plus Pollard was a far superior safety to wither Brown or Morgan right?

Plays today are Green Bay(-10) at Tampa Bay. Bucs start Josh Freeman for the 1st time, Packers get back in the wildcard hunt very decisively, 34-10.

Houston(+9) at Indianapolis The Colts are missing 3 of 4 starters in their secondary, most notably Bob Sanders. Colts will most likely still win, but Houston covers.

**UPDATE at 2:00PM CT: Took Tennesse for a small play getting 4 1/2.
