SUNDAY PLAYS

After watching Houston go down yesterday afternoon & then seeing Oregon State, a team I really liked until the line moved 1 1/2 points, bury Washington 48-21, I had to ignore the 1 1/2 point move in the Oregon-Arizona State & load the wagon on the Ducks. They covered & made me a small vig loser yesterday. Today, there isn't a lot out there that excites me, but I am making 2 small plays.

New Orleans(-14) at St. Louis

This is one of my have--nots matchup. The Saints will be playing without safety & turnover machine, Darren Sharper, other than that, I can't see anything that will prevent New Orleans from covering this game, short of Drew Brees getting injured in the 1st quarter. Saints by 20.

New England(+3) at Indianapolis

The Colts have won 18 straight, so it's tough going against them, but a decimated secondary that will face Brady, Moss, Welker & company is a major hurdle I don't think they can clear. I see a shootout & a very entertaining game.

Some other thoughts for today include the hope the Chiefs win today. This "Toilet Bowl" in Oakland won't be pretty, but the Chiefs have won 5 straight out in Oakland. Don't be shocked if Denver loses their 3rd straight playing Washington today. They haven't been able to run the ball lately & Albert Haynesworth complicates that deficiency for the Broncos. I think Pittsburgh will beat Cincinnati but I think it will be closer than the 7-point spread would indicate. I loved Tennessee at -6, but when it went to -8, I backed off. Matt Ryan doesn't play very well on the road & the Falcons are in for a long afternoon in Carolina. Dallas has everything going their way in this matchup with the Packers in Green Bay in one of the late games today. I think this game will be very close & a Packer win is very possible. Will the real Philadelphia Eagles please stand up. Their game in San Diego is so important to both teams, it will be a good one to watch. The late games include Dallas-Green Bay, Philly-S.D. & of course K.C.-Oakland. If you're stuck watching that one, either you are a diehard fan of one of those teams or you don't have NFL Sunday Ticket.
