BILLS CAN COACH, RAVENS FIRE THEIR KICKER

I told you before the season began the Buffalo Bills would most likely be the first team to implode. Signing Terrell Owens was only part of it, I based it on having 2 lines that are amongst the league's worst & a coach I've always believed was completely lame. Bills owner Ralph Wilson pulled the plug today, firing head coach Dick Jauron. Buffalo had 3-straight 7-9 seasons & it looked doubtful the Bills could match that this season. Wilson didn't name a successor or even an interim coach in his statement. It's thought defensive coordinator Perry Newell will get the job.

The Baltimore Ravens released their kicker today. Steve Hauschka was sent packing after missing another field goal last night in Cleveland. He is 10 of 15 in his Raven career. But when he missed a 42-yarder to win in Minnesota last month & another in Cincinnati, a 40-yarder, which would've brought Baltimore to within 1 score, coach Jim Harbaugh told Hauschka he was on thin ice. Missing a 36-yarder last night in a scoreless 1st half was the end in Harbaugh's mind. Billy Cundiff & Mike Nugent were brought in last week to audition & it's expected one will sign immediately.
