DWAYNE BOWE SUSPENDED BY NFL & KANSAS "INTERNAL INQUIRIES"

The NFL suspended Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe this afternoon. Bowe was suspended for use of performance enhancing substances. The 4-game suspension will start immediately. This will make it even tougher for Kansas City to win any games until he returns.

An "internal inquiry" regarding Kansas coach Mark Mangino was launched this morning. Athletic director Lew Perkins had a short meeting with Mangino & then a lengthy closed door session with the entire team. The Topeka Capitol Journal reports the inquiry was begun after a player made charges against Mangino. There was speculation Mangino is on the hot seat. His 5-5 Jayhawks started the season 5-0 & were ranked 15th in the country. They've lost 5 straight since & may not win another game, which would exclude KU from a bowl bid.

*UPDATE @ 2:30 PM CT
The word from Lawrence is 5 players have complained to A.D. Lew Perkins about both verbal & physical abuse from head coach Mark Mangino. A few stories about Mangino's temper outside the KU program are beginning to surface & some aren't very flattering. Since I have no way of confirming them as true, I refuse to throw them up here.
