DERRICK THOMAS IS PROBABLY SPINNING IN HIS GRAVE

O.K. Chiefs' fans, it's time to get your brown paper bags out & get them ready for wear next Sunday. On a day when the franchise decided to honor the late Derrick Thomas, the Chiefs showed their respect by having another meltdown. A meltdown from top to bottom, almost no one was exempt. If this had been a prize fight, it would've been stopped. I didn't think it was possible to top their lackluster performance against San Diego in Arrowhead, but this one went way beyond that ass whippin'. I don't want to see another Chiefs' player laughing on the sideline while his teammates are on the field getting humiliated. For you TV viewers, did you catch the Chiefs' players giggling on the sideline with about 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter? Why didn't laughing boy just go into the stands & spit on one of the season ticket holders/suckers?

Where do I even start? Let me get a few things out of the way, Tamba Hali played his ass off, recording 10 tackles, beating one of the best O-tackles in the league, Ryan Clady, for 3 sacks, causing 2 fumbles. Kickers Succop & Colquitt were superior again today. That sums up all of the positive things in today's game.

Todd Haley is beginning to look like a clueless mistake. He won't go for 4th & 1 with :23 left in the half at the Denver 30, still in possession of a timeout, but he'll go for a fake punt at his own 28-yardline? Wow. The play calling is so absolutely ridiculous, it's embarrassing. His choices for assistant coaches are proving to be totally wrong. Clancy Pendergast makes Gunther Cunningham look brilliant. Tim Krumrie's defensive line, with the exception of Dorsey, is virtually invisible, they make absolutely zero impact 90% of the time. Today was another defensive effort that yielded over 400 yards, the 9th time in 12 games. They surrendered 245 yards rushing. How do these coaches keep their jobs? Someone from the Chiefs needs to get out front of this Chinese fire drill & explain to the fans why this defense sucks so horribly.

I also have to question Scott Pioli's talent evaluation. The stiffs they trot out there, trying to pass them off as NFL caliber players, are a humiliating lot. Quinten Lawrence is brought off the practice squad to return kicks? He can't make anyone miss, he can't. Bobby Wade can't dive for a ball......ever? Chris Chambers doesn't recognize a cornerback blitz right in front of him, making him the 'hot receiver'? Cassel sees it, throws the ball to Chambers, who runs down the sideline, never looking for the ball as it whistles past his head. The receiving corp dropped 9 passes, Cassel over threw open receivers, he ran out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage instead of throwing the ball away ala Elvis Grbac. Our $60 million man looks completely overwhelmed. I think some of this is personnel surrounding Cassel but a big part of it has to be crappy coaching, this kid is that much worse than last year? A passer rating of 14.6 & a 10 of 29 performance isn't even close to being NFL quality.

Jamaal Charles is obviously beat up & they continue to run him out there so he can get pounded even more & then fumble. It was clear when they drafted him, he's not an every down back, if you want him to return kicks, 8-12 carries is about all you can expect out of this kid & not run the risk of wearing him out or breaking him down. Charles should have been running inside the Denver 20 instead of his own 30, Jovan Belcher decided he didn't need to dive in an attempt to block Mitch Berger's punt on the previous play. It should have been blocked, a pathetic effort that capsulizes Todd Haley's team.

The Chiefs haven't sold me on Todd Haley, his assistants or most of his players. This is the worst football that's ever been played in Arrowhead Stadium. The stadium that taxpayers of Jackson County allowed to be renovated. The stadium that will have more & more empty seats, week after week. The stadium that will host Buffalo & Cleveland the next 2 Sundays. These 2 games are ultra critical for this new regime. If they can't win both of these games, it will be damn difficult for Hunt/Pioli/Haley to sell Chiefs' fans on "the process". I think I most Chiefs' fans will agree with me, enough is enough! Fourteen long years since we experienced a playoff victory is too damn long! We're tired of you constantly shooting yourself in the foot while we pay the freight for your incompetence. We're sick of being played for fools or sheep, at some point you have to take responsibility for the mess you've created. We had nothing to do with building this crappy team, it's all on you guys, but we can, at some point, refuse to pay for it anymore. Anyone else to that point? Please don't insult us by telling us "it's a process", be patient. Guys we've been patient, some of us for over 3 decades. You want us to continue buying into your mistakes? Come clean, be honest & for heaven's sake, lose the arrogance, being arrogant when you're this crappy is laughable. Only this isn't funny, it's deadly serious for the financial future of the Kansas City Chiefs. If management continues in their attempts to pass these coaches off as quality NFL assistants & continue selling this collection of stiffs as real NFL players, shame on you. If that's your stance, you'll get just what you deserve, a city that will quit on you. You'll have a newly renovated stadium you can't walk away from & a fan base that couldn't care less. Just ask the Royals.

I'm going to go cut some eye holes in my grocery bag, don't forget yours'.
