'INTERNET SECURITY 2010' TROJAN HORSE IS FINALLY DEFEATED
The 48-hour struggle is over, the 'Internet Security 2010' Trojan Horse has been defeated. Linda put in 8 solid hours the last 2 nights, doing much of the work & listening to me cuss up a storm. Jimmy Ray spent hours reading about this ball-busting, computer crippling virus, he burned 2 discs that helped but didn't cure, he was over here bright & early this morning for 3+ hours & he finally found the cure online for us. I have been in this chair for about 24 hours trying in vain to whip this beast.
If you get a bunch of error messages followed by a giant black box saying "your computer is infected if you continue to work, you may cause permanent damage to your system." Then a slew of different pop-ups offering to cure your virus, for $49.95, just give us your credit card please. Stop everything & go to www.bleepingcomputer.com & find the pages about this virus & how to get rid of it. It takes a while to do & it's made worse by the virus slowing your computer to a crawl. Thank goodness we had laptops we could use for reference, because we didn't know what we had for some time.
But in the end, the good guys triumphed. Thank you to Jimmy & Linda for all their help, without them, I would've thrown this here Dell right into the Lake. I'm not a vindictive person, oh I say some crass stuff, but I'm really not in the "get even" mindset most of the time. This is an exception, if you put the guy who set this horrible thing in motion right in front of me, I don't think I'd hesitate for even a second to hurt him as much as I could. This was my 1st experience of being held at gunpoint online, "give me your money or your computer will get it." I didn't much care for it & hope I never have to go thru it again. If you encounter this Trojan Horse in your system & have questions, don't hesitate to ask, I learned a lot from Linda & Jimmy the last 2 days & would be more than happy to help you defeat this mess.
