CHARLIE WEIS IS ON BOARD IN K.C. & FOUR MORE JUNIORS DECLARE FOR THE NFL

The Associated Press & ESPN's Chris Mortenson reported this evening the Chiefs have a handshake deal with Charlie Weis to become their offensive coordinator. When contacted by the AP, Weis said he couldn't comment until the deal was done. The former New England O-coordinator & Notre Dame head coach was rumored to be interested in the job with Kansas City & in Wednesday's end of the season press conference, Todd Haley talked about his history working with Weis when they were assistant coaches for Bill Parcells in New York. They shared an office for 3 years during their time with the Jets.

Four prominent juniors declared their intention of skipping their senior seasons & jumping to the NFL. All 4 figure to be 1st round picks. Jason Pierre-Paul of South Florida transferred from junior college this season & was an instant sensation for the Bulls. The 6' 5" 265-pound defensive end showed quite a knack for rushing the passer, always a hot commodity with pro scouts. George Selvie stayed for his senior year at South Florida & was thought to be one of the top 5 pass rushers in the country. Pierre-Paul started opposite Selvie this year & completely overshadowed him. Iowa offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga, fresh off the Hawkeyes' Orange Bowl victory Tuesday night, put an end to the suspense Wednesday evening by announcing he would leave Iowa a year early to make himself available for the NFL Draft. Bulaga was a left tackle the past 2 seasons in Iowa City. He's not as polished as Russell Okung or Brent Williams, but he has the size, 6' 6" 315-pounds, the temperament & most of the skill sets to become an NFL tackle.

Two of the four Florida juniors cleared up any mystery concerning their future with the Gators. Cornerback Joe Haden & tight end Aaron Hernandez will both enter the draft process. Haden is considered by most to  be the best corner in the draft right now. He should be a top-10 selection next April. Hernandez came on really strong during the second half of the season. He could end up being ranked right up there with Oklahoma's Jermaine Gresham as the top tight end in the nation. Hernandez is especially dangerous after the catch. Now the attention will be focused on the Pouncey twins, Michael & Maurkice. Michael a guard & Maurkice, the Gators' starting center, have played right next to each other since high school. They intend to use one of the NFL's approved consulting firms that explores a player's status with pro teams. The Pouncey's have said if they're not in the top-50 picks, they'll stay at Florida. Both should make fine pros, but I can't see them as top-50 material right now.
