OVERTIME PASSES FOR 2010 PLAYOFFS & SOME "DWTS" OBSERVATIONS
The overtime proposal I told you about yesterday was approved by NFL owners Tuesday by a 28-4 vote. The holdouts were Minnesota, Cincinnati, Baltimore & as always Buffalo. Bills' owner Ralph Wilson is famous for voting against anything new. If a proposal is voted down & brought back the following year, he will often vote for it, just never the first time. There is sentiment for establishing the same rule for the regular season but it might take a year before it's brought before the owners for a vote. NFL coaches are said to be vehemently against this rule change, so there will be stout resistance against changing the regular season rule.
I think it's an excellent move, the coin toss winner was winning 58.7% of the time, which is hardly fair. Since the kickoff was moved back from the 35-yardline to the 30 in 1994, winning the coin toss became a decided advantage, something the league doesn't want. The Vikings & Ravens voted no because they want consistency, same rules in the regular season & the playoffs. I agree, but sometimes a little improvement is preferable to the status quo.
I'm not a dancer, Linda has to threaten me to give her one dance at weddings, but I have a rooting interest in this season of "Dancing With The Stars." I put it on one of our screens so Linda can follow it & I know the football players(Emmitt Smith, Jason Taylor, Warren Sapp & Jerry Rice) have done very well on this show. Only Lawrence Taylor stunk up the place on DWTS. This season has 2 entrants that interest me, Chad Accents & my girl, Erin Andrews. Both faired well with the judges, scoring enough to finish in the top-3 for the night. College football's premiere sideline reporter, Andrews recently saw the man who stalked her all over the country get a puny 30-month sentence. After living thru the trauma of this creep stalking & filming her in various hotel rooms around the country by reversing peepholes in her door, maybe she can forget about this mess & put her all into DWTS. The sleazebag put videos on the internet of Andrews walking around her room naked after he was unable to sell them. Chad is paired with Cheryl Burke, who has been paired with 3 season winners including Emmitt Smith, so he has a shot. He looked pretty light on his feet Monday night.
