LET'S BEGIN THE DISCUSSION, ESPN ISSUES 1ST TOP-25 COLLEGE POLL OF THE YEAR
So it's only April & the guys over at ESPN College Football Live have come up with their 1st Top-25 college football poll & here it is.
1. Alabama --defending Nat'l Champs, Heisman winner,QB & WR back, seven defensive starters gone.
2. Ohio State --lose seven starters but all the skill position players return.
3. Boise State --Open season vs. Va Tech in D.C. but the Broncos return 21 starters.Look out!
4. Texas --Horns lose 10 starters, 7 of them to the NFL, can they 'reload' enough to be top-5?
5. Va Tech --All the skill guys are back & they're really good.
6. TCU --Horned Frogs lose just 7 starters, QB & top 5 receivers back. Def. always tough.
7. Florida --Only 7 Sr. starters leave, but 5 juniors gone to NFL, still might be too low at #7.
8. Iowa --Hawks lose 4 O-linemen but QB Stanzi, RB Jewel Hampton & DE Clayborn return.
9. Nebraska --Nadamakong Suh is a lot to lose, but Huskers should be even better in 2010.
10. Oregon --I don't get this one at all, suspend QB for year & RB for 2 games, lose 5 others to NFL.
11. Wisconsin --15 returning starters from a pretty decent team
12. Oklahoma --Lose 9 starters, most to the NFL, but there's a lot of depth waiting for their chance.
13. Miami --All the skill players return including QB Jacory Harris but lose more than half the starters.
14. LSU --Sorry Tiger fans, I think Les Myles is overrated & so is this program.
15. USC --Lane Kiffin comes to LaLaLand, I'm not a fan. Losing 12 starters is a big hill to climb.
16. Pitt --With 14 starters coming back, if they get decent QB play, Panthers could win Big East.
17. Ga Tech --Only lost 1 senior & 2 junior starters, yeah they'll be good. Real good.
18. Arkansas --QB Ryan Mallett(NFL top-5 prospect) & all his receivers return plus 9 defenders.
19. Penn State --Another 9-win team with no chance to win Big-10 or get to a BCS bowl.
20. Oregon State --With 16 starters returning, Mike Riley could actually win the PAC-10.
21. Florida State --The Bowden distraction gone but losing 7 def. starters will be tough.
22. Cincinnati --Lose QB Pike, WR Gilyard, 9 other starters & their coach, can they be tough?
23. Georgia --'Dogs lose entire D-line, plus the arrests have become a real distraction.
24. Stanford --QB Andrew Luck returns w/8 other off. starters, so they can be competitive.
25. N. Carolina --Butch Davis has 15 starters coming back but this team isn't that good.
So who got snubbed in this poll?
Houston --Nations best passer Case Keenum returns with 14 other starters can 'D' improve?
Texas Tech --Tommy Tuberville has 14 starters incl. 2 good QB's returning & he'll make 'D' better.
Washington --Best pro QB Prospect, Jake Locker, returns, on that alone, Huskies make top-25.
