BIG JOHN HEADED TO KANSAS CITY, CHIEFS COURTED SICKO & THE DRAFT'S OVER, NOW WHAT?

The Jacksonville Jaguars released defensive tackle John Henderson on Monday & he's comin' to Kansas City for a sit-down with the Chiefs. The 8-year veteran said he was open to playing nose tackle or he could slim down a bit & move outside to defensive end. "Big John" as he's known as in Jacksonville, is one large individual, 6' 7" & 338 lbs. He has always played the run-stuffer in the Jags defense. He's proven to be durable, only missing 4 games in 8 seasons. He has a little pass rush, recording 29 in his career & has deflected 37 passes. Henderson won the Outland Trophy as college football's best lineman while he was a Tennessee Volunteer. His college line mate was Albert Haynesworth, the $100 million man. Henderson made the Pro Bowl after the 2004 & 2006 seasons. His release in Jacksonville was strictly about money. The cash-conscious Jags released 4 veteran players on Monday after drafting less expensive replacements. I believe Henderson can still play, if he isn't asking for an arm & a leg money-wise, signing him should be considered. You ought to check out his YouTube videos showing his pregame ritual of having the Jags trainer smack him in the face repeatedly in an effort to get him mad. It's unreal, if I were the trainer, I don't know if I could smack this hulk in the face while he's screaming mad.

I told you about the tight end from New Hampshire, Scott Sicko(really, that's his name) & his decision to reject any offers from NFL teams to sign as an undrafted free agent. He has decided to forget about football & continue his education. He revealed Monday afternoon the Chiefs were one of five teams who called offering a contract. I listed Sicko on my list Saturday night as a player I hoped the Chiefs would pursue. They did, but apparently Scott no longer wants to ball.

Nine-time Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca was released by the new York Jets in a money saving move. Faneca was due a roster bonus & 2010 salary of nearly $7.5 million. The 12-year vet was sent packing Monday, but his services are being requested in Houston already. The Bears & Cardinals are said to be interested as well. Intelligent, durable & disciplined maulers like Faneca don't stay unemployed too long.

So the extensive run-up to the draft & the draft itself are over. I don't want to belabor the Ben Roethlisberger mess any more, I refuse to run the overdone rants against Tim Tebow. How many ways can you tell or retell stories about Jimmy Clausen or Colt McCoy & their 'slide' in the recent draft. If you watched one hour of the coverage over the 3 days, you already have heard enough about it. I watched every minute of the draft, so I'm not likely to discuss it here. So what do we talk about now? I have a number of readers who have requested a glossary. I throw out a lot of terms, abbreviations & slang, many of you admittedly don't quite understand. I'd be happy to provide such information if you want it. If it's not that important, I won't bore you, but if you want a decent glossary of terms that could make watching football more enjoyable, then I'd like to post it right here. If this is something that you would find interesting & informative, let me know, yea or nay. Email your answer to rich@richsfootballreport.com
