BRONCOS LOSE A PRO BOWLER & MY 2011 TOP-25 PROSPECTS

The Denver Broncos got a helluva scare Wednesday from their Pro Bowl left tackle, Ryan Clady. He suffered a partially torn patella tendon in his knee playing basketball. He underwent surgery Wednesday afternoon & it was reported by Mike Klis of The Denver Post that had the tendon been completely torn, Clady would have missed the entire season. As it is he will be laid up for about three months & according to Josh McDaniels "we're hopeful he can be ready for opening day."  Clady played every offensive snap last season & playing left tackle, he covers Kyle Orton's blindside, so a timely return is important.

I told you the other day Danario Alexander & Jared Perry, wide receivers from Mizzou, hadn't been signed to free agent contracts. A reader told me yesterday that Perry had signed with San Francisco, so I stand corrected, thanks James.

John Henderson's scheduled visit with the Chiefs didn't materialize for some unannounced reason. Henderson seemed excited to meet with Chiefs coaches, he said he would play any position on the defensive line. He has only one other interested suitor right now, the Giants. No reason was given for calling off the visit or if it would be rescheduled. It's possible the Chiefs became lukewarm regarding the 2-time Pro Bowl hulk.

Two undrafted free agents I think will stick with their teams, Mike McLaughlin with the Ravens & Blair White with the Colts. McLaughlin was a hitting, tackling machine for Boston College. The inside linebacker doesn't drop well in pass coverage, but he can cover the middle of the field, shed tackles & stuff the run. Just the kind of player Baltimore covets. White is very, very similar to current Indy WR, Austin Collie. Collie might be half a step quicker but White is taller & might have better hands. His skill set should fit in well with Peyton Manning & the rest. The former walk-on at Michigan State improved every season & I think he still has upside to his game.

Chiefs' mini camp is scheduled this weekend for rookies & June 13th for the whole squad. They also scheduled 5 different OTA's(organized team activities) for vets beginning May 17th.

I patted myself on the back yesterday speaking of my prediction from a year ago regarding the top-25 prospects for the 2010 draft. Now I'm going to list my top-25 for the 2011 draft. Remember, junior & 3rd year sophomores can be draft eligible but can also stay in school.
