VIKES NEED TO "GET OVER IT", DEFENSIVE R.O.Y. SUSPENDED & WHY ARE THE BUFFALO BILLS THE #1 TEAM IN CHINA?

The Minnesota Vikings lost the NFC Championship game last January to the Saints, the time to get over the loss has come & gone. Or has it? "I have questions on calls that I felt like weren't kosher & Brett's been doing it for a while as well. But we're not going to sit back & moan. It's behind us" said Vikings coach Brad Childress. Do those remarks sound like they've put it behind them? They're not the only ones, many Minnesota fans sense a conspiracy is what kept them from playing the Colts in the Super Bowl. Guys, it's time to move on, not claim you're moving on, you lost, stop the conspiracy crap.

In other news out of Vikingland, the team lost their bid to keep the "Williams Wall", defensive tackles Pat & Kevin Williams, from being suspended this coming season in the StarCaps mess. The pair took the supplements which weren't on the league's banned substance list. The supplement did contain an ingredient that is on the list, tho not listed on the box or label. Now the question is will the league suspend them together for 4 games or suspend one after the other, giving them one starter for 8 weeks? Regardless of the league's intention, one way to alleviate the stress of losing one or both starting defensive tackles is to acquire another Pro Bowl caliber player. Enter disgruntled Redskin D-tackle Albert Haynesworth. He said yesterday he'd love to move to Minnesota, he's currently withholding his services from Washington because he doesn't want to play nose tackle in Mike Shanahan's new 3-4 defense. The Redskins tried to move the talented lineman during the draft but couldn't get what they were looking for in return. This seems like a good move for Minnesota if owner Ziggy Wilf can stomach the bloated contract Haynesworth brings with him.

Two other trades that could happen very soon, the first is St. Louis left offensive tackle Alex Barron being swapped for Dallas outside linebacker Bobby Carpenter. Barron didn't want to sign his restricted free agent tender, but did so Friday, knowing it was halting trade talks with the Cowboys. Carpenter has been a major disappointment since he was drafted out of Ohio State 5 years ago. A change of scenery might work in his case, but I'm not a fan, always thought he was way overrated. Baltimore has seen enough from offensive tackle Jared Gaither. They don't like his work ethic or his attitude towards coaches. He was given a phantom excuse from mini camp this weekend, the Ravens claimed he was nursing an injury, an injury that no one had witnessed. Michael Oher was moved to Gaither's left tackle spot & coach John Harbaugh said the move was permanent. The Bills are said to be interested in Gaither for their left tackle spot. More on another Buffalo tackle prospect in a minute.

Denver defensive tackle Ronald Fields was arrested Friday night in his hometown of Houston Texas for carrying an unlicensed handgun. Fields, who started all 16 games for the Broncos last season, seemingly didn't hear about all of his peers who have gotten in very serious trouble carrying guns, maybe he can become pen pals with Plaxico Burress.

Houston linebacker Brian Cushing, the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year was suspended Friday afternoon by the league for violation of their PED(performance enhancing drugs) policy. Cushing tested positive for a PED during last season & will have to sit out the first 4 games this year. Cushing led the Texans with 134 tackles, he added 5 sacks & 4 interceptions. He denies the use of PED's & "is shocked his appeal didn't overturn the suspension."

If you watched Arthur Aidala, attorney for Lawrence Taylor, make the talk show rounds, denouncing the case against his client as "trumped up", forget it. Taylor had sex with a 16-year old girl & he paid her $300 cash. Tho Aidala kept on spinning like a top, federal prosecutors said Saturday that Taylor had admitted to them he did exactly what he is accused of & all for $300. The feds are involved now because the pimp that delivered the girl to Taylor, Rasheed Davis, is going to be charged with trafficking women for sexual purposes. He is accused of forcing the runaway into prostitution, beating her & keeping her a virtual prisoner. He was involved in a murder some time ago & has an extensive record. The girl said the black eye & bruises she had were from the hand of Davis, Taylor had not hit her or threatened to hit her. it was the beating she took from Davis that caused her to text her uncle & he called police. Pings off her cellphone located the pair for police.

So why are the Buffalo Bills the #1 team in China? For the answer you need look no further than 5th round draft pick Ed Wang. He could become the first NFL player with direct descent from China. His parents were members of the Chinese track & field team, his father was a high jumper & his mother a high hurdler. Dad is 6' 2" & mom is 5' 11", both very tall for Chinese people. When their first child was born in 1988, the Wangs decided to emigrate to the U.S.A. in hopes of training their son to be an NBA player. When he was 5 years old they took him back to China to have an exam that projects bone growth & mature height. They found their son wouldn't grow taller than 6' 6", so an NBA career would be difficult. So the Wangs decided to train their son to be an athlete & they could decide later on what sport would be best. He got support from his younger brother David, now a sophomore offensive lineman at Virginia Tech. The four family members trained together, the boys were taught athletic discipline at a very young age. They weren't allowed on sleep-overs, couldn't go to the movies with friends & dating or having a girlfriend was strictly prohibited until they had secured a college scholarship. From age 5 until they went to Va. Tech, they got up at 7AM every Saturday morning to run wind sprints. Both grew large & gravitated to football. Because of their athleticism & self-discipline, they were perfect candidates for the offensive line. Ed grew to 6' 5" & 300 pounds, he needs more functional & weight room strength. His quick feet & discipline will only take him so far, he gets out-muscled too often. But he has the potential to play in the league no question. If you think the NFL wasn't prepared for this, think again. I was amazed to find the league had an in-country marketing director, Michael Stokes, just for China. Seems the NFL knows this is a market ripe for the picking & seeing the impact of Houston Rockets' center Yao Ming, the league wanted a piece of this massive pie that is China. The Super Bowl was watched by 28.5 million people in China, not a lot for a population of over 1 billion, but impressive for a country with no football background. Monday Night Football was broadcast in China this past season for the first time. Now Ed Wang's Buffalo jersey's are flying off the shelves in China, back ordered almost nationwide. I have the feeling that Wang, Buffalo & the NFL are going to do everything they can to ensure he gets a starting job in the NFL. It could mean tens of millions of dollars to everyone involved with the first 100% Chinese player in the NFL.
