MASOLI TOTALLY OUT IN DUCKVILLE, NEW DIGS FOR THE 49ERS, GOLDEN'S GAFFE GETS GOOFIER & DO YOU WANT YOUR VERY OWN AUTHENTIC SUPER BOWL RING?

Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who led his team to a PAC-10 championship & a Rose Bowl berth, was dismissed from the football program today. He was on a one-year suspension imposed by coach Chip Kelly after Masoli plead guilty to a campus burglary of computer equipment & video games. He was still in school & was expected to return to the team in 2011, but on Sunday night, he sealed his fate with the Ducks. During a traffic stop, police found marijuana in the car, Masoli was driving on a suspended license & a failure to stop citation, which prompted the police to pull him over in the 1st place. Once again, an immature young man has made a series of horrible decisions & now the life he envisioned for himself lies in ruin.

The NCAA investigation of the USC football & basketball programs expected to be released last Friday, will in fact be released tomorrow. Stay tuned, this could have huge implications.

Yesterday was election day in many states & locales & there were two results that were football-related. Former Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jon Runyan won the Republican primary in New Jersey's 3rd congressional district. He will now face Democratic incumbent Jon Adler in November for the opportunity to join one of the most dysfunctional organizations on earth, the U.S. House of Representatives. Voters in Santa Clara California approved a measure to help fund a new football stadium to be occupied by the San Francisco 49ers. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said before the election the new stadium would be considered for a future Super Bowl. The last municipality promised that was East Rutherford new Jersey. They approved a new stadium shared by the Giants & Jets, built it & they were awarded a Super Bowl.

Roger Goodell also announced today the league was going to permanently fund a Pat Tillman scholarship. The Pat Tillman Foundation for Military Scholars already has funded 52 scholarships, none of them permanent. The scholarships are open to veterans, their survivors or dependents. Very good move.

Does it bother anyone but me the Chiefs have yet to sign a single draft pick? Just about every other team has signed some of their draft picks, the Bears have signed them all. Maybe Scott Pioli will get them all finished very soon, I just don't want to see any holdouts when training camp is ready to start.

The league canceled the last 2 OTA's for the Ravens. NFL officials stated Baltimore had violated the rules as to the type of workouts allowed during the OTA(organized team activity) period. Jim Harbaugh said it was possible some of the work he ordered wasn't allowed. The question is, who ratted them out to the NFLPA who in turn informed the league? A few players who were quizzed about the physicality of the workouts said they had no clue what part wasn't allowed or who provided the details to the union.

Two important parts of the San Diego Charger offense, left tackle Marcus McNeill & wide receiver Vincent Jackson, haven't signed their tender as restricted free agents, missed all off-season workouts & practices & now have said they will not report to training camp next month. Jackson made it clear he will not report until he has a new contract. McNeill said he would sign the tender before camp opens so the club could trade him if that was preferable to giving him a new contract. Two important cogs the Chargers need if they are to make any kind of a deep run in the playoffs.

I told you of Seattle rookie Golden Tate's "After Midnight" doughnut shop invasion. The business, Top Pot, is located in the ground floor of the building Tate resides in & Top Pot is 'the official' doughnut & coffee provider at Seattle's Quest Field, the Seahawk's home. The doughnut maker, who arrives at 3AM to begin preparing the day's goods, discovered "Tate & his friend in a drunken state, eating doughnuts." She was scared when the appeared from behind a counter. She wasn't amused at all & was very disappointed when her employer refused to press charges. Tate said "I apologize to the team, the coaches & even Top Pot." Maybe he should have apologized to the women he frightened, did he scare the team, the coaches? Pull your head out Golden.

Also from the police blotter, former Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne reported last month a theft at both his homes in Wisconsin. He claimed video game consoles, laptop computers, shoes, liquor, assorted electronics & over $100,000 in jewelry were stolen from the two homes. Missing were his NFC Championship ring, 2 Rose Bowl rings, 2 Big-10 Championship rings, a Heisman Trophy ring & a bracelet commemorating his Heisman Award. Monday night Dayne found a plastic bag on his front porch of his Waunakee Wisconsin home with 4 of the rings inside. What makes this story more strange is the items in the bag were stolen from his home in Madison. Yesterday morning he went to the Madison address & found a plastic bag with the 2 remaining rings, which were stolen from the Waunakee home. Sounds like this could be a jilted girlfriend or a former pal doesn't it?

The Colorado football program is going to lose 4 scholarships because their APR(Academic Progress Rate) fell at a percentage higher than is allowed. The APR is a classroom performance scale that measures attendance & grades. Losing 4 scholarships is very severe punishment. The Buffaloes are the only Division I football program to forfeit any scholarships. The ice under head football coach Dan Hawkins continues to get thinner. Colorado also lost a basketball scholarship as did Syracuse, who lost 2.

So what do the Stoops' brothers think of the conference realignment talk? Bob Stoops, the head coach at Oklahoma, thought it would be "cool, a new challenge for he & his staff." He added "some of the players I've talked to are pretty excited about the possibility of playing PAC-10 schools. I think being able to recruit in California would be a plus as well." His brother Mike, coach at Arizona, who would be placed in a "Southern Division" with Texas, OU & the rest of the Big-12 refugees, said "I don't care as long as I don't have to play Oklahoma & Texas every single year." Sorry Mike, if this deal comes together, that's exactly what you'll be doing.

Have you seen an authentic Super Bowl ring up close, held it in your hand? I was sitting with Chiefs' Hall of Famer Ed Budde a few years ago in a South Kansas City watering hole. we had a long conversation that concluded with his Super Bowl ring on my left hand. Honest, I didn't ask, he took it off & handed it to me to examine. I've never been a jewelry fan but it was pretty cool lifting my Budweiser with this huge ring on my hand. So what if it only lasted about 3 minutes, it was a nice moment, thanks Ed. The rings cost anywhere from $9,000 to $16,000 apiece to say nothing of the collector's value, normally another 25-50%. Very soon you can take a shot at your very own New Orleans Saints Super Bowl ring, exactly like the players receive. In an effort to raise money for the relief of those most affected by the gulf oil spill in Louisiana, the Saints are going to raffle off one of these rings to the general public. They priced the raffle tickets right for huge participation, $2 each. Yep, for $2, you could have your very own New Orleans Saints' Super Bowl ring to wear, sell, whatever you want. The winner receives the ring plus $2,178 in tax liabilities paid in full, $1,800 to the IRS & $378 to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where the rings are made. I intend to take a shot, it's a deductible expense & it certainly goes to a very good cause. The winner will be announced opening night, September 9th, when the Saints play the Vikings down in 'Nawlins.
