SKINS WANT MILLIONS FROM HAYNESWORTH, UTAH GETS AN OFFER & I'LL ANSWER SOME MAIL

I told you a few weeks back, Washington Redskin mega-free agent, Albert Haynesworth, he of the $100-million contract, wasn't interested in playing nose tackle in the new defense coach Mike Shanahan intends to play. He's missed all of the OTA's & now he's M.I.A. from mini camp & Shanahan has had his fill of Haynesworth. He said the team will pursue a return of $21 million dollars of the $30 mil they've already paid him. One of his teammates said "Albert's a great actor, he hates football but he loves money." Another was more to the point "he's an assh@le." I don't see him playing for the Skins this season but the question is, will another team step up to not only offer at least a 2nd round draft pick for him, but one that's willing to continue the insanity that is his contract.

The PAC-10 offered an invitation to the University of Utah to join their conference. I respect the program Kyle Whittingham has put together in Salt Lake City. Just 2 years ago they toppled the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl, 31-17. But I have to say, I question how exciting the addition of Colorado & Utah would be to PAC-10 fans. CU isn't good in anything, maybe their "patsy status" is good. Utah is a tough out in football & hoops, but how do these 2 teams add another dimension to the PAC-10? How do they bring bigger revenues for the conference? If you have an idea, let me in on it.

Former Colt wide receiver Marvin Harrison was stopped by Philadelphia Police on Wednesday for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. The officer saw Harrison stuffing something between the driver's seat & center console. He asked Harrison if he had a gun in his Escalade & Harrison said no. The officer could see the handle of the gun so a search of the vehicle ensued & he found a 9mm handgun. This was not the same 9mm semi-automatic pistol police had checked for ballistics because a man who had filed a lawsuit against Harrison, claiming Harrison had shot him after a disturbance in a bar owned by Harrison. That man was shot & killed on a Philly street last summer. He was killed with a 9mm handgun & one in Harrison's home was checked. Now the police have another of Harrison's guns to run ballistic tests on, altho I doubt this is the murder weapon, Harrison couldn't be that stupid could he? Harrison has never filed retirement papers with the NFL, but it's doubtful anyone wants him at this point. He has 1,102 lifetime receptions & 128 touchdowns plus numerous NFL records.

Jerry Jones said today he wants his alma matter to join the Big-12. He played on the football team at Arkansas with his former coach Jimmy Johnson. He also made a pitch for Notre Dame to join the league. He has about zero chance of either happening. Arkansas said in a statement soon after Jones' comments they "loved being in the SEC & there wasn't the slightest reason to talk about this any further." Sorry Jerry. He has the Big-12 Championship game scheduled in his new stadium thru 2013, unfortunately, with only 10-teams currently in the conference, the last Championship game will be this December.

Finally, a USC alum who's honest. Jets' quarterback Mark Sanchez said on Jim Rome's ESPN show Wednesday "It's tough for a young guy to have a bunch of stuff laid out in front of them, sometimes kids want to take & they do." Reggie Bush spoke briefly Wednesday afternoon calling the NCAA sanctions against USC as "the closest thing to death without dying." He pledged to help the university in their appeal with "everything I have." It's too late for Reggie to come riding to the rescue, he had his hand out for three years & now kids he didn't even play with are going to suffer the consequences of his greed & entitlement.

Mail time!

To Mike in Iowa: Thanks for reading, yes I said Moeaki had a couple of good practices & yes, I hope he does well. You people who think I have some sort of ax to grind with the Chiefs are way off base. I want this team to be great, I don't care if I'm wrong in the long run regarding my evaluation of their roster. I want this team to be a perennial contender & win multiple Super Bowls, I don't know how much more clear I can make it than that.

To KCKrissy: Thanks for reading, Tyler Palko, the Chiefs 3rd-string quarterback as of now, played at Pitt & he had two games of note, a 5-touchdown 411-yard performance in a win over South Florida & another 5-TD game in an upset at Notre Dame. Palko is the only visiting QB to throw 5 TD passes at South Bend. He's a little on the short side at just over 6' 1" but he's fairly athletic outside the pocket. Palko is 2nd or 3rd in just about every lifetime passing stat at Pitt behind Dan Marino & Alex Van Pelt. The Chiefs are his 4th professional stop after Arizona, New Orleans & Pittsburgh.

To DannyP: Thanks for reading, to my knowledge, the Tigers haven't had any of their recruits opt out of their commitment. Their six highest rated recruits for the 2011 class are as follows:

Shane Ray--DE--Bishop Miege H.S.
Courtland Browning-- CB--Tyler, Texas
Taylor Chappell--O-Line--Canadian, Texas
Wesley Leftwich--WR--Columbia Hickman H.S.
Corbin Berkstresser--QB--Lee's Summit
Anthony Pierson--CB--St. Louis Their highest rated prospect going into their senior seasons.

I'm going to do a short piece on their incoming freshman class very soon as there has been a couple of inquiries as to the 2010 class' strength.

To JakeNBake, Cats in '10 & MMoats, Thanks for reading, but guys, pointing to other bad behavior isn't justification for someone's bad behavior. Reggie Bush is guilty as hell, but to say "they all do it" which all three of you said in your emails, isn't an excuse, sorry.  Pete Carroll did some great things reviving the Trojan program, but one of them wasn't looking the other way when the Bush family lined up for their payoff. The entitlement, the zero accountability & the lower moral values aren't just symptomatic of the sports world, all of these ills plague our country in every walk of life. We can no longer accept "everybody does it" as a reasonable response. Is this the road you want our country to continue down in the future? I hope not.

For all of you who sent in suggestions for naming rights on the new Giants/Jets Stadium: Thank you for reading, I got a quite a few silly ideas ranging from Tampa's Girls Gone Wild Stadium(thanks Ron) to Pittsburgh's Penthouse Park. I think AshelyMadison.com Stadium is still the worst idea I ever heard for an NFL stadium, especially considering their business model over at A. M. .com.

To SMSGT Flores: Thanks for reading & thanks for putting in your 2-cents regarding R. Bush, P.Carroll, Big Ben & AshleyMadison.com. We're on the same page pretty much across the board.  Keep an eye out for my Mizzou frosh report coming soon & thank you for your service.
