JARRAD PAGE IS BACK, T.J.'S OUT, CHASE IS THE MAN..... THE BACKUP MAN ANYWAY & CRAYTON MOVES WEST

In a starling move, Jarrad Page signed his tender offer this afternoon & is now eligible to practice, play, be traded or cut. It's a cinch that once Page & his agent bad-mouthed the Chiefs, they were going to dig their heels in, stalling his career for now. I think he'll be traded, I can't see Scott Pioli & Todd Haley wanting him back on their roster. Since the Chiefs have to make 22 cuts by tomorrow afternoon, Page got in just under the wire. By staying in limbo, he would have lost his 2010 salary as well as another year of credit toward unrestricted free agency & the NFLPA's retirement program. Smart move to come in, he should have done it long ago, everybody knew it would come to this anyway, he could have been with another team by now.

Seattle's prize free agent from 2009, wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, will be given his walking papers before tomorrow's mandatory cut down. He will be taking with him almost $4 million in signing money & his entire 2010 salary, $7 million. Not a bad severance package & he'll land on somebody's roster by Monday most likely, but he's already in full blown pout about his impending release. This is a tough business, sometimes the emotional part is even tougher than the physical component.

The Saints announced this afternoon the release of veteran quarterback Patrick Ramsey, meaning Chase Daniel has won the backup job in New Orleans. The undrafted free agent from one year ago made the Saints as their 3rd string QB & he got a Super Bowl ring. This season he won the job, fair & square, out performing Ramsey & rookie Sean Canfield by a mile. He's the second undrafted QB from 2009 to win a backup position, Steven Hoyer has won the Patriots' backup job.

The Dallas Cowboys were going to unload one of their wide receivers once they announced Dez Bryant as their 1st round draft pick in April. The first one to be moved is Patrick Crayton, who was traded to the San Diego Chargers for a 7th round selection. The Chargers are currently embroiled in a contract dispute with Vincent Jackson & it looks as tho Jackson will hold out for as long as it takes. Crayton caught 37 passes for 622 yards & 5 touchdowns as the Cowboys #3 wideout. On the surface, this looks like a good move by San Diego's hard-core G.M. A.J. Smith. Crayton knew he was probably on the trading block & being sent to another playoff contending team should soften the blow.
