BRONCO RECEIVER FOUND DEAD

Kenny McKinley, a 23-year old wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, was found dead in his home Monday afternoon. The Arapaho County Sheriff said McKinley's death appeared to be a suicide. McKinley was currently on injured reserve after sustaining a torn ACL in week 16 last season. His knee had not responded enough to begin training camp, so the Broncos placed him on injured reserve in August.

He had just returned to Denver after two weeks in Georgia & South Carolina. He attended the Georgia-South Carolina game, McKinley played for the Gamecocks, in fact he's their all-time leading receiver in catches & yards. Coach Steve Spurrier was visibly upset when he spoke to the South Carolina press this evening. "I don't understand what happened, he was just here at the Georgia game. He had that big smile on his face, I loved that smile. Kenny was one of my very favorite players ever, this is so hard to understand, he was such an outstanding young man."

The Broncos organization & head coach Josh McDaniels both issued statements this evening. Because there was no suicide note, whatever caused this 23-year old young man to take his own life will weigh heavily on anyone who was close to him. What a waste. RIP
