S.D. BLACKED OUT AGAIN, N. CAROLINA MAY MEET SAME FATE AS USC & A REALLY BAD MISPRINT

The blackout is in for San Diego's game with Arizona this Sunday. Two home games, two blackouts. This is how things went bad in Los Angeles for the Raiders way back when. The Raiders had a blackout in their home opener too. Do Californians really want professional football? I know the economy is awful, but in the state with the largest population, it looks like NFL Football may not interest enough people.

The Big-12 released their 2011 football schedule today. Here's Mizzou's portion of the new 9-game conference slate. For 2012, just reverse the location of each game. This schedule will be it for the foreseeable future.

I told you the Saints had signed veteran kicker John Carney to help out with their kicking & Garrett Hartley's agent said "Garrett's the future of the kicking game in New Orleans." I knew this would lead to something bad, never trust the dreaded "vote of confidence." Sean Payton said today Carney would handle the placekicking on Sunday. Anyone surprised?

Tyson Jackson returned to practice on Thursday for Kansas City. The defensive end missed two games with a strained knee. He will gradually move back into his starting role. In other Chiefs' news, Tamba Hali was named the AFC defensive player of the week. He recorded 3 sacks, 2 tackles for loss & a forced fumble in Sunday's win over San Francisco.

There's a real mess brewing at North Carolina & it will most likely cost coach Butch Davis his job. In what was supposed to be the tar Heels' best season since Davis arrived, things have quickly fallen apart & someone will have to pay with their job. The NCAA has connected former defensive line coach John Blake & NFL agent Gary Wichard, Blake already resigned two weeks ago after Marvin Austin, the Tar Heels' best defensive player was suspended for flying around the country on Wichard's dime. Actually it was more than a dime. Wichard & a sports' marketer from California paid an $1,800 hotel tab for Austin in L.A. He also helped pay for a trip to a Miami party. The connections between Blake 7 Wichard got 15 Tar Heel players suspended for their opener in Atlanta against LSU. Six of those players are still suspended. The NCAA released a report on the Blake-Wichard connection & it's ugly. There were six wire transfers from Wichards' personal account into Blakes' personal account. Their a personal loan of $45,000 from Wichard to Blake. There's a Mastercard with Wichard's company name on it that was issued to Blake. Just a guess here, Blakes' days as a college coach are officially over. Butch Davis has a clause in his coaching contract with North Carolina that voids the contract if any of his assistants violate university policy or NCAA rules resulting in sanctions against the football program. I'm guessing that's next, soon afterward, Davis will be canned. You'll see a loss of scholarships & a post season bowl ban too. Who else loses in this mess? The other Tar Heel players, especially those who were NFL material, they will be downgraded considerably.

So Chad Ochocinco, the king of self promotion in the NFL(just nosing out teammate Terrell Owens) debuted his new kids cereal, OchocincoO's. They're said to be a delightful bowl of sugary fun. Chad did it to promote his favorite charity, Feed the Children, a noble endeavor. On the box it offers a toll free number if you'd like to donate to the charity. Unfortunately, there was a misprint on the thousands of boxes of the cereal. The phone number begins with 1-800 & not the real number for Feed the Children, 1-888. The phone number printed on the boxes is quickly answered by a real sexy lady offering several really naughty options spoken in very, very graphic detail. Real nice. The naughty number has been besieged with callers now that the number is out there & it's constantly busy. Jeez, it took me about 20 tries before I got thru. I did it strictly to research this article O.K.? Anyway, all this traffic has put a strain on America's phone sex operators & their deviant callers. That's why I didn't print the entire number, I want those people to make that love connection they so desperately need.

The head of the A.F.L.-C.I.O.Richard Trumka, has offered to mediate the NFLPA-NFL owners negotiations. To no ones surprise, the owners rejected the offer. Let me get this straight, the largest union conglomerate is offering to sit in on negotiations between a union & management, is that correct? What could go wrong? Maybe Trumka ought to park his ass outside the Chrysler plant in Detroit so he can counsel some of his flock as they partake in smoking pot & Jack Daniels on their lunch breaks in a city park.
