CHIEFS AUDITION LB'S, RAIDERS BLACKED OUT.......AGAIN, GATORS LOSE KICKER & G.G. 10K LIGHTER

Thursday was linebacker audition day in Kansas City. Former K-State star, Mark Simoneau, 3-time Pro Bowl special teams player, Larry Izzo & 2010 7th round selection, Chris McCoy, all tried to impress the Chiefs' coaching staff. Simoneau was with New Orleans last season but was on injured reserve with a torn biceps muscle before the season started. The 36-year old Izzo has three Super Bowl rings earned as a Patriot special teams ace. McCoy was chosen by the Dolphins in this year's draft but Miami wasn't going to wait for his transition from DE to ILB to happen. It's likely one of these guys could be signed with current Chiefs Cory Greenwood or Justin Cole on the roster bubble.

Today I watched 6 1/2 minutes of highlight video from Heritage Hall High School in Oklahoma City. The video featured a junior running back who also returns kicks & plays cornerback. His talent is so obvious, he literally jumps off the screen. Ultra-quick feet, stop-start ability in the open field & blazing speed. At this level, he is truly a man among boys. With his very first middle school carry, he went 80-yards for a touchdown. On his second carry, 60-yard touchdown, third carry, 65-yard touchdown. You get the picture, he is a superior talent in every way. His name is Barry Sanders Jr., yeah, that Barry Sanders.

Boise State is a 43-point road favorite tomorrow night in Las Cruces against New Mexico State. I don't think it's enough.

Oakland Raider fans will have to endure yet another TV blackout on Sunday when the Houston Texans visit. It's the Raiders second blackout of the season, their 9th in a row & 78th since returning to Oakland from L.A. Of 122 games played in Oakland, 78 have been blacked out, nearly two-thirds of the games. Remember what I said about California football fans?

Denver Bronco running back Knowshon Moreno has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Tennessee. Moreno missed last week's game with Indianapolis with a tender hamstring.

The Florida Gators have a real problem on the eve of their showdown with #1 ranked & defending national champion Alabama. Their placekicker, Caleb Sturgis has been ruled out of the game with a back injury. It was also revealed Sturgis might miss more than this game, in fact, he might miss the rest of the season.

Kansas City's Shaun Smith, called the "Genital Giant" by FOXSports.com's Jason Whitlock, will find his next paycheck $10,000 lighter. The NFL levied a fine for his grabbing & groping of Niner tackle Anthony Davis's "man region." A video surfaced & it became viral on YouTube, tough to beat that video evidence. I actually didn't see it, I was busy doing more, uh, research on a misprinted toll free number that offers different sexual services, some of which I've never even heard of........honest.

Because I can't get a current spread update until tomorrow morning, I won't have my Saturday plays until tomorrow morning. I'm leaning toward Oklahoma if the line stays steady at -3. I also like Iowa -7. I was going to play Florida +9, but without their #1 kicker, I'm staying away. I also like Notre Dame -2 1/2 at Boston College. Look for the picks tomorrow.
