HUSKERS ROLL BIG & THE OFFICE POOL PICKS

It sounds & looks like Bo Pelini's Nebraska Cornhuskers want their Big-12 farewell tour to feature one blowout after another. They got the first one tonight, hammering a completely overwhelmed Kansas State team 48-13. Redshirt freshman quarterback Taylor Martinez had a huge night, rushing for 241 yards on just 15 carries & scoring 4 touchdowns on runs of 14, 35, 80 & 41 yards. He also threw a 79-yard TD pass to tight end Kyler Reed.

Leading 38-6 & a minute to go in the third quarter, Pelini kept all his 1st teamers in, trying to score again. They did & he called off the dogs, for a while. With Nebraska leading 45-6 & K-State threatening to score a touchdown midway thru the 4th period, Pelini ran his first string defense back onto the field to make a goaline stand. The Wildcats scored & Pelini wasn't happy. They get Texas in the big revenge game next Saturday in Lincoln, this could be the worst defeat a Mack Brown-led Longhorn team has absorbed. The Huskers are still mad about the end of the Big-12 Championship game last year.

Martinez looks like the real deal, remember this date, November 19, 2011, Nebraska at Michigan, Martinez vs. Denard Robinson.

The Raiders game with San Diego Sunday will mark the 10th straight blackout for Oakland.

Denver running back Knowshon Moreno tweaked his hamstring on Thursday & once again the Broncos don't expect him to play Sunday versus the Ravens.

ESPN's College Gameday, the best football pregame show on television, will do a segment on the 20-year anniversary of the infamous "Fifth Down" game between Colorado & Mizzou. The Buffaloes, thru a horrible blunder by game officials, got 5 snaps inside the 2-yardline. They scored on that 5th down, or at least the line judge said they did even tho the instant replay doesn't verify it at all. Nevertheless, Colorado got the win, the officiating crew was suspended for 2 weeks & after another horrendous call in the Orange Bowl against Notre Dame, Colorado won the mythical national championship. I understand it was a story then, but 20-years later, tens of thousands of Tiger fans don't care to relive it again. Count me in that group.

last week my "Office Pool" picks went 9-5 giving me a 40-22 record for the season. Here's my best stab at it for this week's games. Remember, the teams in bold letters are my selection to win.

Tampa Bay  at  Cincinnati

Atlanta  at  Cleveland  (Cleveland is in every game & Falcons haven't looked that great)

New York Giants  at  Houston  (very tough game to pick with Houston WR's banged up))

Kansas City
at Indianapolis (yes that's right, I'll pick 'em till they lose)

Green Bay  at  Washington

Jacksonville  at  Buffalo (they won't go winless & Jags could be in for big letdown)

Denver  at  Baltimore

Chicago  at  Carolina (no Cutler, no pass blocking, spell big problems for Bears)

St. Louis  at  Detroit (don't know that the Rams are ready to win 3 in a row)

New Orleans
at  Arizona

San Diego  at Oakland

Tennessee  at  Dallas

Philadelphia  at  San Francisco (Singletary's last stand)

Minnesota  at  New York Jets

MNF total points--41
