SATURDAY PLAYS
I as I'm writing this, the Baylor-Texas Tech track meet is in full swing with Tech leading 28-21 halfway thru the 2nd quarter, these two teams may leave the scoreboard a smoking wreck. No defense in sight. Last weekend I went 4 for 5, like to be able to do that all the time, but after doing this for over 40 years, I know that's not possible. Only liked two games for Saturday but I have about 5 games for tomorrow so I'm going to need to pare that down. Here goes.
Michigan State +4 1/2 at Michigan
Defense travels & the Spartans have a far better defense than Michigan has seen all season. Heisman front-runner Denard Robinson pulls the trigger for the Wolverines, he has been sensational to this point, but their schedule gets a lot tougher now. Sparty can bring the pain, superior linebacking led by Greg Jones #53 & a fierce pass rush. I love Robinson, but the Wolverines have just barely escaped Notre Dame, UMass & Indiana to keep their record perfect. I like the 5-0 Spartans getting more than a field goal. Should be a close game I think State will win straight up.
Auburn -6 at Kentucky
Auburn, 5-0, will play down to their competition sometimes but they have passed both early season tests beating two ranked teams, Clemson in overtime & pounding South Carolina. Kentucky really isn't a competitive team by SEC standards, Florida battered them 48-14 just two weeks ago in Lexington. The Wildcats are off the hook this season, they already beat in-state rival Louisville in their must-win game. Auburn by at least 14.
It's taken me about 6 minutes of game clock time to write this post, the current score is Tech 35 Baylor 28 with :37 left in the first half. The over/under on this game was 62 1/2, it's over before half, whew!
