RUNYAN WINS IN N.J., JAMARCUS IS A TUB & SOME VERY ANGRY EMAIL

Former NFL offensive tackle Jon Runyan won his first election tonight as he defeated Democratic incumbent John Adler in the 3rd congressional district of New Jersey. Runyan played at Michigan & was drafted by the then Houston Oilers before they moved to Tennessee. After 4-years, Runyan moved on to the Philadelphia Eagles for the next nine season's, making the Pro Bowl in 2002. He made no secret of his political ambitions & upon his retirement last year he began putting together a campaign staff to run for congress.

As we watched the NBC election night coverage, we kept seeing the networks' ad for Sunday Night Football. Since we routinely mute the audio during commercials we didn't hear what the ad was saying until very late in the evening. Showing the Cowboys, the audio goes "it's pride against the Packers this Sunday night." Pride??? Did you see their prideful effort against Jacksonville Sunday? Whatever happened to truth in advertising?

The Chargers' wide receiving corps took another hit as Craig "Buster" Davis was put on injured reserve with a groin tear. Every San Diego wide receiver has been banged up to an extent, none of them have played every game. They travel to Houston to play the Texans in what is probably a must-win game for both teams.

The Washington Redskins brought in 10 players for tryouts on Tuesday & the group included former Raider & #1 overall pick in the 2007 draft, JaMarcus Russell. He made quite an impression with Mike Shanahan & his coaching staff when he stepped on the scales. Russell hasn't been staying in shape since his dismissal from the Raiders in September, he weighed 286, 31-pounds over his playing weight. I'm guessing the interest Washington had in him is probably out the window after the weigh-in.

Now, to the mail. One thing is clear, Nebraska fans like to curse, complain, whine, threaten & insult. I never liked getting pounded by 30-40 points as Nebraska ran up the score on Mizzou, but they were the better team, hard to argue with their superiority. But when anyone beats this team, the "internet Huskers' act as tho someone was talking bad about their mama. Relax, enjoy your team, enjoy your bowl game, enjoy  having your ass handed to you during basketball season & most of all, enjoy the BIG TEN. Really......buh bye.

To BigRed1, thanks for reading, but I had a real problem with your email. I couldn't determine if you're a horrible speller or typist. I'm not a texter, so some of your cool slang was lost on me, if you want to insult me, spell it correctly or don't bother. You were the most unreadable of the Cornhusker complainers. I wanted to reply to you directly, but alas, you gave me a phoney email address, how courageous of you. This was the second Husker email warning me to stay out of Nebraska, which won't be a problem I assure you. Tell me the top-10 reasons people go to Nebraska, O.K. five.........three?

To 4everRed, thanks for reading, but if this is an example of your Nebraska education, your parents should apply for a refund. So much cursing & name-calling & so little of it goes together. Watch a Robert DeNiro movie, maybe you'll learn how to hurl a decent insult that doesn't make your intended victim laugh out loud at just how stupid it is. It was difficult to understand what it was you wanted me to do. Once again, a brave Nebraska assailant using a bogus email address, was that part of your high school education or a college level class?

To "I can't print how this was addressed", thanks for reading, I bow down to your greatness. The nerve of me writing something objective when I should have just said "Nebraska is the greatest football program ever. The only time they lose, it's because of the refs, it's because the other team cheated, no one is worthy of being on the same field as the mighty Cornhuskers. Certainly not the Texas Longhorns(who have a 12-1 record vs the Huskers) & certainly not the lowly Missouri Tigers." I'm so sorry I questioned the mighty Huskers. Whatever was I thinking? I'm sure the Tigers victories over "Mighty Nebraska" in 3 of the past 5 games were a Mirage, especially 2008's 52-17 beatdown in Lincoln. Apparently those wins were a mirage.

To "The second clown whose email address(phoney as well, right "Shove?") is too vulgar, thanks for reading, but once again I'm confused. You compliment my analysis of the Chiefs but cuss & curse when it comes to my opinion of your Huskers. Before we go any further, did Texas beat you in Lincoln this year? Did Iowa State beat you in Lincoln last year? Did Virginia Tech beat you two years in a row? Did Texas Tech beat you two years in a row & did OU run up 62-points on your Huskers in '08? I can almost sympathize with your last-second Big-12 title game beef, but you act like that was your only loss in recent history & plainly it wasn't. The sense of entitlement I get from Nebraska fans is simply staggering. Maybe your opponents should just forfeit, is that what you want?

To Neblvr4evr, thanks for reading & hey, right back at you. I got the insults but couldn't make heads or tales out of the rest. It was as confusing as a Sharon Angle debate. Like Steve Martin said in "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" "Here's a good idea, have a point, it makes your story more interesting."

Now let's move onto the Chiefs fans who are mad at me.

To Mary D. thanks for reading & thanks for the advice on where to put things, it should be really helpful. Let me be clear about this ONE MORE TIME, I love the Chiefs, have since I went to the very 1st Chiefs' regular season game in 1963. I've traveled thousands of miles to see games at Arrowhead. Twenty-seven times in fact. Because I am critical does not mean I want them to lose so I will be right. I want them to win games, win playoff games, win Super Bowls, O.K.? Nothing would make me happier. I criticize because I care, it's known as being analytical. That's what this site is all about, discussing football, analyzing football games, teams, players, coaches & formulating an opinion. Why else would I do this? Do you want me to write "Chiefs crush overwhelmed Bills." Is that what happened? Did you see the game? Is it your take that Todd Haley has done everything right since he became the Chiefs' head coach? Are you happy with every draft pick? Do you think Matt Cassel is a top-10 quarterback? Do the Chiefs have a top-5 defense? Honestly Mary, if you answered yes to any of the questions above, you should tryout as a cheerleader because you're not willing to question anything they do.

To Miss58, thanks for reading, but your praise for the defense is way overblown. Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson & Brandon Flowers are the only defenders with a shot at the Pro Bowl but don't get upset if they don't make it, the Pro Bowl is more of a popularity contest. The secondary, including nickel back Javier Arenas, is hopefully set for the next 3-5 years. Beyond that, only Johnson & Hali are set in stone. They need to upgrade the line & 2 LB's spots.

To Darryll, thanks for reading & yes you are a "doom & gloomer" but a doom & gloomer who was right about the Buffalo Bills.

To KCKrissy, thanks for reading, we're not there yet, but I think you're going to be right & I'll be wrong, thankfully. You did predict a Western Division title for Kansas City & I said they'd win 7 games. I told you then & I'll repeat it now, I hope you're right.

To CMSGT Flores, thanks for reading & welcome home! Hope you can stay here for the rest of the season while we watch the Chiefs run for the division title. I fully expect Mizzou to run the table & finish 11-1. If they're able to do this, I can see them in either the Insight or Holiday Bowl.

To Garry(the football coach), thanks for reading, thanks you for your input on helmet-to-helmet hits. You're absolutely right, change the "jacked up" environment & a lot of this will go away. You're also right about this starting in middle school, then high school & so forth. Teammates should get on players who commit such hits. There's nothing wrong with a big hit, as long as it isn't likely to leave someone in a wheelchair or worse.

To Reed, John C. Dick H. & joyhowie, thanks for reading, thanks for the kind words, thanks for the continued support. See there are people who like reading my stuff & none of them has given me any directive for stuffing, plugging, shoving, cramming or sticking anything, anywhere.
