BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY GOES TO TCU, BOISE CLOSE BEHIND, MIZZOU, OU, HORNS ALL STINK & DOWN GOES BAMA

On a day where we had a game with 132 total points, Kansas, down by 28 in the 4th quarter, scores 35-unanswered points to win, Navy rushes for 521-yards while running up 76-points on the road. Nevada had 844-total yards, JoePa won his 400th game at Penn State & eight top-25 teams lost, but TCU was absolutely awesome. The Horned Frogs went into Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt lake City to play undefeated & #5 ranked Utah. It was over quickly, TCU so completely dominated the Utes, their fans sat in stunned silence for nearly 3 quarters & then they headed to the exits. The 10-0 Horned Frogs jumped out to a 20-0 lead after 1 quarter & it was essentially all over. They ran up 558-total yards to Utah's 199. Time of possession went to TCU, 39 to 21 minutes. They out rushed the Utes 177 to 51. The only thing Utah had more of were turnovers, 4 to 1. They played a near perfect game in the game that would decide the conference champ in the Mountain West.

Boise State was almost as good, rolling Hawaii 42-7. Hawaii came into the game averaging 351-yards passing & got just 150. Boise amassed a ridiculous 732-total yards, an all-time school record. QB Kellen Moore was lights out with a 30 of 37 day, good for 507-yards & 3 scores. They out-rushed the Rainbow Warriors 230-45. It was total domination. Hawaii ran up 588-total yards on USC opening day, this is a good offensive team, they've scored 31 or more in 7 games this season. Not today, Boise State was simply too much on nearly every snap.

Oregon stomped another stiff, beating a Jake Locker-less Washington Huskie team 53-16. The top-rated Ducks now face a mediocre Cal squad, followed by over-rated Arizona & finally a beat-up Oregon State squad in the "Civil War." The only thing that will keep Oregon out of the BCS title game is Oregon itself. Stanford destroyed Arizona 42-17 to stay alive in the PAC-10 race. They are one of the better teams in the country. No one else is really competitive in the PAC-10.

Mizzou followed up their dismal performance in Lincoln last week by really laying an egg in Lubbock. The Tigers jumped out to a 14-0 lead just 6-minutes into the game & then went into hibernation, losing 24-17. Marcus Murphy broke a 69-yard touchdown run just 3-plays into the 1st quarter & then Kendial Lawrence busted off a 71-yard run untouched all the way to the endzone. After that, Mizzou managed just 215-yards of offense, they were dreadful on 3rd down, just 1 for 12 & Blaine Gabbert couldn't have played worse. He was 12 of 30 for only 95-yards. Receivers dropped passes, there were untimely penalties & by midway thru the 3rd quarter, their defense was gassed. Gary Pinkel did a poor job of preparing his team, they showed no fight, no passion, just a resolve like it wasn't going to be their night.

OU was worse than Missouri in their 33-19 loss to A&M. They couldn't convert on 3rd or 4th down. A&M stoned them repeatedly. Despite being penalized 13 times for 83-yards, A&M took it to the Sooners from the opening series. There was one point when OU closed it to 19-17 & that lasted about 5-minutes before A&M scored again & it was over. Texas continued their nightmare season, Kansas State ripped the Horns 39-14 in a game that wasn't as close as the score. Bill Snyder called off the dogs in the 3rd quarter, leading 39-0. K-State only had 274-yards of total offense but the five interceptions that Garrett Gilbert threw gave the Wildcats supreme field position. Mack Brown is praying this will all end very soon.

The ACC continued their ridiculous "parity". Virginia Tech is the only team without 2-losses in the conference & honestly, the only team worthy of being ranked in the top-25. This conference is a mess, but they get an automatic BCS bowl bid.

I want to thank Navy for blowing up East Carolina 76-35 as a 3-point road underdog. Two weeks ago they buried Notre Dame 35-17 but just couldn't overcome powerhouse Duke(2-6) last week. of course I had a bet on the Midshipmen last week. I didn't bet today, just too many bad feelings you know.

Tho I'm a confirmed Jayhawk hater, I gotta give them their props for storming back from a 45-17 4th quarter deficit to score 35 unanswered points & win their first Big-12 game under Turner Gill. That was 35-points in less than 11-minutes of the 4th quarter. Colorado's Dan Hawkins should start clearing out his office, he's gone as soon as the season comes to an end. Oklahoma State buried Baylor 55-28 in a game, that once again, wasn't as close as the score, it was 34-0 before Baylor scored. The Cowboys had  725-yards video game-like offense. With the lame Longhorns, Kansas & Oklahoma left on their schedule & a 1-game lead, Okie State is in pretty good shape to win the South Division.

The Big-10 remained a toss-up between Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State & even Iowa has a shot. Wisconsin does have the inside track having beaten Iowa & Ohio State. Iowa escaped Bloomington Indiana with an 18-13 win after a Hoosier wide receiver dropped what would have been the winning score with seconds left. Ohio State plays at Iowa in two weeks & that only matters if the Hawkeyes can beat a pesky Northwestern team nest Saturday.

How important are special teams? I'll give you a prime example, I've got the ASU-USC game on while I write this post. The Sun Devils score the go-ahead touchdown late in the 4th quarter. Not only is the extra point blocked, but a Trojan scoops it up & takes it back for 2-points, making the score ASU 33-USC 31. The Trojans kick a field goal with a minute to go putting them in front 34-33. Arizona State drives to the Trojan 22 where they miss the winning field goal. The worst part in my opinion was on the blocked extra point, the Sun Devils, ahead by 4, should have gone for a 2-point conversion. Instead they kicked it, got it blocked & returned for 2-points, a 4-point swing in what turned out to be a 1-point game. Dennis Erickson will be joining Dan Hawkins in the unemployment line.

Auburn remained undefeated by whipping a Division 1AA school, Tennessee-Chattanooga 62-24. What the hell are they doing with a Div. 1AA school in week ten of the season? Yeah, TCU & Boise, they don't play anybody.

Some of the "well they don't play anybody" argument you hear from the big conference elitists regarding TCU & Boise, really took a whippin' today. Illinois & Michigan has a 67-65 defensive struggle with 1237-yards of offense. Iowa barely escaped Indiana with a win, Missouri lost to Texas Tech, Oklahoma got smoked by A&M 33-19, Texas was humiliated by K-State 39-14, South Carolina was routed at home 41-20 by Arkansas & 19-point favorite Nebraska barely got out of Ames Iowa with a 31-30 overtime win. The Cyclones went for a two-point conversion to win the game & if the holder had thrown a better pass, it looked as tho Nebraska would have lost too. Arkansas was the only ranked team to get a win out of this group. Even Alabama went down in Baton Rouge 24-21 in a game that shocked me, Les Myles out coached Nick Saban. If you don't believe TCU & Boise State can play with anyone in the country, you don't know as much about football as you think you.
