MORE ON THE CAM NEWTON INVESTIGATION & IT'S ALL BAD

The Cam Newton investigation has expanded, with the NCAA asking Newton's father, the Rev. Cecil Newton, for all of his personal & church financial records for the past three years. We already knew Newton originally went to Florida, but because he didn't want to sit behind Tim Tebow for another season, he left the Gator program in the spring of 2009. Last fall he was recruited by Mississippi State, Auburn & Oklahoma, signing with Auburn in December. At least that's what we were told. He is the leading Heisman Trophy candidate right now as he's lead the Tigers to an undefeated season so far & if they stay that way, they'll play in the BCS title game.

Late tonight, Thayer Evans, Senior College Football writer, of FOXSports, is reporting they have a reliable source from the University of Florida who has told them of a pattern of academic cheating involving Newton. The source claims Newton left Florida because he was scheduled to face the Student Conduct Committee which was poised to suspend him for a semester.

Evans reports in November of 2008, Newton was arrested for the theft of a laptop computer from a dorm room on the Florida campus. The item was returned & the charges were dropped

Newton is accused of stealing a paper from another student, putting his name on it & turning it in for credit. The deceit was discovered when the student who actually wrote the paper was asked by the professor why he hadn't submitted his paper. He said he had, then he & the professor went thru all of the papers before finding his work, with Newton's name on it. Newton was confronted with the evidence, he confessed & the professor told him to turn in his own work. Newton did three days later, unfortunately it was quickly discovered the paper had been purchased on the internet. A hearing before the student conduct committee was scheduled before the spring semester. Newton made the decision to transfer to Blinn College before the spring semester avoiding the student conduct committee. He was later recruited by the three schools listed above before settling on Auburn.

As this information becomes public knowledge this morning, their will be blood in the water & the media frenzy will begin. Auburn coach Gene Chizek has a colossal problem on his hands & with Georgia looming this Saturday, this could become a monumental distraction in Auburn Alabama.
