CHIEFS' PLAYOFF HOPES CIRCLING THE DRAIN

Sorry to report this, but the playoff dreams of the Kansas City Chiefs & their fans began circling the drain within the last twenty minutes when the team finally came clean on their starting quarterbacks' "illness." Matt Cassel underwent a successful appendectomy earlier in the day. He will likely miss the remainder of the regular season & possibly a playoff game, if they can hang onto their 2-game lead in the AFC West. Backup Brody Croyle now becomes the Chiefs' starter going into their most important game of the season. More later.

UPDATE @ 4:41 PM:  The Chiefs refuse to rule Cassel out for Sunday's game. I would say that's the most optimistic thing I've heard in some time. Now that I know his procedure was a laparoscopic one, it should cut down the rehab time, maybe as much as 50%, but i have to believe Cassel will miss at least 2 games.
