SIMMS & DESMOND ALMOST COME TO BLOWS & A BRRRRR UPDATE

Phil Simms seems like a pretty decent guy, I talked to him several times back in my days working at Bellagio & he was pretty cool, especially compared to many of his Diva QB brethren. Apparently Phil has been holding a bit of a grudge against ESPN college football analyst Desmond Howard for a few months. I can recall a Saturday College Game Day show when the panel was discussing the Tennessee-LSU game & Dez cracked "great game, you'll see the 3 worst quarterbacks in the SEC." Phil's younger son Matt was at that time the Vols starting QB. When they came face to face at The NFL Experience, Simms told Dez "I ought to punch you for what you said about my son." Dez claims he thought Simms was kidding & then when it became apparent to everyone close enough to see & hear the incident, Phil wasn't foolin'. After he uttered the threat for a 3rd time Dez claims he said "let's go' but police officers stepped in & separated the feuding commentators. I wasn't present & I'm not taking sides, but I think Phil was being a dad & not a football commentator. When you say terrible things about people's children, sometimes a parent will challenge you on your comment. Sometimes it can get out of hand. Luckily this afternoon, it didn't.

We got another 4-5" of snow last night, just enough to screw up the nice plow job on our hill. I tried for 20-minutes this morning to get squared up enough to get up that sucker to take Linda to work, but all we did was slide. I called the plow guys & they came by a couple of hours later. They told me the entire lake is frozen, a first since we've lived here & a first for many who've lived here for decades. We also got a break in that it reached 38 degrees this afternoon with the sun shining brightly. Once I got up the hill it was a breeze to get into town to return a movie & get those really hot Buffalo wings I love for Super Bowl munching tomorrow. Sadly, it's supposed to snow again tomorrow night & into Monday, then more deep freeze, lows below zero by mid-week. My friend Wayne posted this picture on Facebook & it reminded me I downloaded it a couple of years ago & it's definitely appropriate to bring it out & share it with all you snowbound folks with extreme cabin fever.

That pretty much says it for me.
