MIKE VRABEL ARRESTED IN CASINO THEFT
Chiefs linebacker & union player rep Mike Vrabel was arrested for theft this morning in Florence Indiana. The alleged theft occurred at the Belterra Casino, who pressed the charges against Vrabel, a felony. He was released on bail & thru his agent, Neil Conrich, Vrabel released a statement that read:
"It was an unfortunate misunderstanding & I take full responsibility for that miscommunication. I feel comfortable after talking with the appropriate parties, we will resolve this issue."
I've had a lot of experience with casino players "helping themselves" to a variety of things while gambling, from casino chips to pre-printed comps to other player's property, it's a pretty common occurrence. When stopped, the excuses run the gambit, but alcohol is usually involved, that & losing money. Some casinos look the other way when a big player or celebrity is involved while others press charges anytime against anyone. I doubt riverboat or Indian casinos are likely to give a pass when they believe they've seen theft. I wonder what Vrabel was doing in Florence Indiana, he was born in Akron Ohio, attended Ohio State & played for the Patriots & Chiefs. In other words, he was really out of his neighborhood, it doesn't make sense to me. I'll be following this story as it develops.

**UPDATE @ 5:10 PM CDT
KMBC-TV9 in Kansas City is reporting this evening Vrabel was detained from "helping himself" to 8 bottles of beer at a casino deli. The Indiana Gaming Commission has stated Vrabel walked into the deli & took the beer without attempting to pay for it. I guess the "misunderstanding" Vrabel referred to in his earlier statement was the casino misunderstood he was an NFL player who shouldn't be required to pay for beer. If these are the facts, he'll pay for the beer, offer up a lame excuse & apology & that will be the end of it. More bad behavior excused for self-important people.
