MIZZOU GETS ANOTHER 4-STAR, 118-MPH DUCK DID IT IN A RENTAL, LAWYERS RETURN PLUS ROSENHAUS/PRYOR ARE SHAMELESS
The Missouri Tigers got another verbal commitment from a 4-star recruit. Evan Boehm, from Lee's Summit West High in the Kansas City area, gave Gary Pinkel his verbal promise to sign with the Tigers next February. The 2012 class recruit is a 6' 3" 290-pound offensive lineman & heavyweight wrestler. Boehm was ranked the #1 guard in the entire country by ESPN & #3 by Rivals. He played for his father Royce at L.S. West, both at left tackle & center. He will most likely be moved to left guard. After watching his highlight video, he looks like a keeper. Pancake after pancake, Boehm plays a very physical game & yet has the athleticism to get out to the second level & get a block on linebacker or safety. Boehm first met Coach Pinkel at a football camp in Kansas City a few years ago & was promised a scholarship if he continued to improve. Boehm joins Germain Ifedi, an offensive tackle from Texas, also a 4-star recruit who committed last week. Pinkel has recruited well for 2012, four 4-stars & six 3-stars so far.

I told you yesterday about Oregon's Cliff Harris & his 118-MPH speeding ticket. His license is under suspension, but that didn't stop Harris from nearly doubling the posted 65-MPH speed limit. Today, the other shoe dropped & it could be very bad for the Ducks. Coach Chip Kelly had to be squirming when he heard the 2011 Altima Harris drove at this ridiculous speed was a Hertz rental car. A person needs both a driver's license & credit card to rent a car. Harris had neither, but not to worry, he got a female employee from the University of Oregon to rent the car for him. Major problem..... major. The woman claimed Harris & a friend paid her cash to rent the car for them. Another potential problem, car rental agreements call for one driver unless driver's licenses & insurance cards from any additional drivers are presented at the time the car is rented. A top-5 cornerback & the best punt returner in the nation, Harris is now going to face a certain suspension & possibly worse if the NCAA gets involved in his early morning "need for speed."
The meetings between the NFL & it's disgruntled players continue, this week in Maryland. For the first time since talks resumed, the legal mercenaries were allowed back in the room. Apparently enough progress has been made, both sides believe even the presence of lawyers can't derail good vibe. Daniel Pash & Jeffrey Kessler, the hired guns each side loves to hate, were back at the negotiating table today. No word on their status for tomorrow. It's rumored the players want the NFL Network to sell the Thursday night football package to the highest bidder. It's one of the last stumbling blocks in these negotiations along with increased revenue splits if L.A. gets a team. Also being reported is the true heavyweights of NFL advertisers have begun pressuring ownership to get this settled, the companies that shell out that huge money for Super Bowl ads are uneasy about the season not starting on time. I still believe this will get done no later than the end of this month.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus & his newest client, Terrelle Pryor conducted a pseudo-news conference on Tuesday afternoon. It was both predictable & bizarre. The predictable part was that Pryor more or less read a prepared statement & then didn't speak again, deferring to Rosenhaus. The agent refused to answer any questions & the whole thing lasted less than 8 minutes. The bizarre? Pryor's "shout out" to his former coach Jim Tressel, who Rosenhaus claimed speaks to Pryor by telephone 4-5 times each day, probably to get their stories straight. Pryor apologized to Tressel "for everything, sorry for everything that went down" that forced the coaches resignation. No specifics, just "sorry for everything." Why???? What are you sorry for???? Rosenhaus was right there to interpret, "no excuses at all, but the past is now the past for him & we have to move ahead. There is no point in him looking back." Well that certainly explains everything doesn't it? "He is very sad what has happened to his college career at Ohio State. I can tell you that he is extremely sorry. He is responsible for the mistakes he has made. He owned up to that, there are no excuses" added Rosenhaus. Sorry for what? What were the mistakes? He's "owned up" to what? Rosenhaus also talked about Tressel, "I was very moved by how highly (EX)Coach Tressel spoke of Pryor." O.K. enough vague apologies, Rosenhaus quickly moved into his promotional phase, "I expect him to be a 1st round draft pick in the supplemental draft. This league needs quarterbacks, no way middle rounds for this guy, are you kidding?" The whole affair was about as shameless as it comes, I was almost nauseous but since I figured it would be something this bad, I was able to keep my lunch down while viewing it. This kid will fit in well with the three ring circus Rosenhaus calls a client list.
