BRIAN WATERS OUT, SPROLES TO THE BIG EASY, OCHOCINCO MAY HAVE TO CHANGE HIS NAME & WHO SAID "COACH HALEY'S NOT ALWAYS A BUTTHOLE?"
The Kansas City Chiefs & their 5-time Pro Bowl guard, Brian Waters, have parted ways. In a joint announcement made less than an hour ago, Waters praised the franchise, it's coaches, players & the fans.

"I'd like to thank the entire Chiefs organization, especially for giving me a chance when I was a young player, when other teams wouldn't. I'm grateful for the coaches, teammates & support staff who helped me become the player & man I am today. I'd also like to thank the fans of Kansas City who cheered us on. The Chiefs & I have mutually agreed on this decision & altho I look forward to continuing my career, I'll always have a special place in my heart for Kansas City."
Scott Piolis' statement:
"Brian has played a key role in our progress & I am personally grateful for his contributions to this team. He & I had a good discussion & mutually agreed this was a sound football decision for both Brian & the Chiefs. Brian has been an integral part in this organization & wil always be a part of the Kansas City Chiefs. We wish him nothing but the best."
The 2009 NFL Walter Payton Award winner for his civic & charitable contributions to the Kansas City community will be missed. He was an honest, no bullsh*t spokesman for the players in the Chiefs locker room. Honestly, I think we saw this coming near the end of last season when rookie Jon Asamoah got more playing time at both guard positions & handled himself quite well. Waters, scheduled to make $4.5 million in 2011 & at age 34, was in danger of just this type of thing. The former undrafted tight end from North Texas made the most of his opportunity with the Chiefs. Under coach Dick Vermeil, Waters was part of the best offensive line in football. Hall of Fame OT Willie Roaf, future Hall of Famers TE Tony Gonzalez & right guard Will Shields, center Casey Wiegmann & Pro Bowl RT John Tait.
In other Chiefs' transactions, they released running back Jackie Bates & wide receiver Chris Chambers. Kansas City has signed all but two of their draft choices, 1st round pick Jonathan Baldwin & 3rd round selection Justin Houston. All the rest have signed within the past 24-hours.
More player movement around the NFL:
Former Charger Darren Sproles is now a member of the New Orleans Saints. The runningback/return man will slide right into the spot fomerly held by Reggie Bush, who was traded to Miami last night. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio described Sproles perfectly when he said of the 5' 6" mighty-mite "Sproles is Reggie Bush without the drama." Correct, absolutely correct. The former Olathe North High product from the Kansas City area was a 2-time Player of the Year for the Metro Area. He moved on to star at Kansas State before taking his combination of speed, vision & toughness to the NFL. Saints fans ought to be happy, they did get exactly what they needed.......without the drama.

Former Bears tight end Greg Olsen has agreed to terms with the Carolina Panthers. The tight end position was downgraded when Mike Martz took over as offensive coordinator. The bears also released fellow tight end Brandon Manumaleugna.
Former Mizzou great, Brad Smith, will take his all-purpose act to Buffalo, agreeing to a 4-year, $15 million deal.

The Cleveland Browns have found their "change of pace back" in former Green Bay runner Brandon Jackson. The Browns are looking to lessen the carry load of starter Peyton Hillis.
The Houston Texans, desperate for secondary help fell out of the Nnamdi Asomugha derby this afternoon when they agreed to a 5-year deal with former Bengal Jonathan Joseph. He was considered the 2nd best corner in this free agent class & top-5 overall. Certainly not Asomugha, but a stout corner nevertheless.
The Eagles & Cardinals pulled the trigger on a trade which included QB Kevin Kolb. The Eagles sent their backup out to the desert in exchange for cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie & a 2nd round draft pick. The cardinals suffered thru the 2010 season with the worst quarterback play in the entire league, upgrading the position was their top priority this off-season.
Chad Ochocinco may not be "ochocinco" anymore. He was traded to the New England Patriots this afternoon & since current Patriot tight end Aaron Hernandez wears #85, Chad may have to change his last name or pay thru the nose to get Hernandez to relinquish his #85. He agreed to a restructured 3-year deal. The Bengals will receive two undisclosed draft picks in return.

A number of draft picks signed on the dotted line today. Blaine Gabbert, Julio Jones, Tyron Smith, Von Miller & Aldon Smith, all 1st round selections, are now under contract.
In addition to Aldon Smith, the Forty-Niners announced they had signed their entire 10-pick draft class.
Reggie Bush, scheduled to make $11 this season from his New Orleans contract agreed to a 2-year restructured deal with Miami Dolphins. The Saints traded Bush last night but the deal was contingent on Bush agreeing to a new contract. It will pay him $9.75 over the two-year deal.
The Falcons agreed to terms on a new deal for right tackle Tyson Clabo. According to coach Mike Smith, keeping Clabo was essential for the team's continued improvement. Clabo has been one of the league's top-5 right tackles the past two seasons.
The Carolina Panthers firmly stated today they weren't interested in trading Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith. Smart move, whether it's number one pick Cam Newton or last year's #2 pick, Jimmy Clausen, Panther QB's need a steady hand like Smith on the receiving end.
Training camps opened up today & that means the holdouts should commence, which they did. Titans running back Chris Jonson, Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson & Niners running back Frank Gore have all stated their intention to boycott training camp until their current contracts are renegotiated.
So who was it that said "Coach Haley's not always a butthole?" None other than newly acquired wide receiver Steve Breaston who uttered those words on 810WHB this morning on the Border Patrol show with Steven St. John & Nate Bukaty. Breaston was responding to being questioned about his relationship with Chiefs' coach Todd Haley. When the topic of Haley's temper came up, Breaston gave what will certainly be this infamous quote. He knows, he played for Haley in Arizona, had his best season under Haley & despite Haley's bluster, Breaston wanted to play for Todd Haley again. See, it pays to not be a butthole all the time.
