CHIEFS NOW HAVE THE THE "KILLER BEES," UNION RECERTIFICATION MOVING ALONG WELL & REGGIE BUSH IS TRADED
Day two of free agency brought the Chiefs a high quality player at a position they hoped to fortify. Scott Pioli worked out a 5-year deal with former Arizona Cardinal wide receiver Steve Breaston. The Michigan Wolverine played for Todd Haley when he was the offensive coordinator out in the desert. Breaston had a career best 1,006 yards on 77 receptions in 2008 under Haley. The 27-year old receiver will be entering his 5th NFL season. Breston ran mostly out of the slot but in 2008 he moved outside for 7 games subbing for the injured Anquan Boldin. During this period Breaston refused to be announced as the starter in pregame introductions, he claimed he was just keeping the position "warm" until Boldin was able to return. He is a high quality person, definitely in keeping with Pioli's desire for trouble-free personnel. Lining up with Dwayne Bowe & rookie Jonanthan Baldwin, the Chiefs now have the "Killer B's" to contend with. If Pioli can sign a good tackle, Todd Haley will have the components of a very dangerous offense. Three big, physical receivers in Bowe, Baldwin & TE Tony Moeaki coupled with the speed guys, RB Jamal Charles, WR Steve Breaston & WR/RB Dexter McCluster, Haley & QB Matt Cassel will have a number of high quality options that should keep Kansas City very competitive in the AFC West for years.

Safety Jon McGraw agreed to terms today, now if Pioli can sign NT Aubrayo Franklin, an offensive tackle & an inside linebacker like say, Barrett Ruud, he will be very close to a perennial contender. That's what Chiefs' fans have been waiting for, now can we please win a stinkin' playoff game? One more note on the Chiefs. They agreed to terms with Central Connecticut WR Josue Paul, a physical possession receiver who also ran back 4 kickoffs for touchdowns. Scott Pioli played defensive tackle at Central Connecticut & until Paul was drafted, Pioli was the only C.C. player I ever knew from that school.
Three teams have already voted unanimously to re-certify the players union. I expect as many as half of them to be on board by the close of business tomorrow.
It was reported tonight by FOXSports' Jay Glazer, the Saints had peddled RB Reggie Bush to the Miami Dolphins. Since the deal hasn't been finalized due to a contract adjustment the Phish are demanding.
There were additional moves, cuts, deals etc. tonight, but none will allow me to keep my eyes open any longer. I'll be back before morning to give you the lowdown.
