ASOMUGHA FOOLS ALL, SIGNS WITH EAGLES, CAM SIGNS TOO
Nnamdi Asomugha signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. Thank goodness, I didn't want to see him paired up with Darrelle Revis on the Jets. Gotta say the Eagles may have completed this deal without anyone know they were even interested until it was way too late. They traded quarterback Kevin Kolb to Arizona yesterday for a 2nd round draft pick & cornerback Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, a player the eagles wouldn't budge on, he had to be part of the deal. The Eagles already have a Pro Bowl corner in Assante Samuel. I doubt they intend to keep all three, two much cap invested in one position & what could be a sticky competition for the other starting spot. If they trade Samuel or Roger-Cromartie, the Eagles should get excellent value in return. The other surprise in this deal is the money Asomugha accepted to become an Eagle, $60 million in a 5-year deal, just $25 million guaranteed. Unless this contract is completely front-loaded, it appears he went for a deal worth much less than was speculated. The Jets must be feeling pretty punk'd. right about now, the front runners almost since day one, they wind up seeing their quest sneak next door.

Number one overall pick, quarterback Cam Newton, signed a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. It's 4-years for $22 million, nearly all of it guaranteed.
New England released offensive tackle Nick Kaczur, a 7-year veteran. He's a right tackle who was drafted by Scott Pioli, is he going to be coming West to St Joseph? His release should clear the way for Matt Light's return. Third-year man Sebastian Vollmer & rookie #1 draft pick Nate Solder fill out the Pats' tackle depth chart. Kaczur started most of the time 2007-2009 in New England but has had injury issues spending most of the 2010 season on I.R. Still something to think about.
In other transactions late today, Miami released linebacker Channing Crowder, the human gaffe machine. Defensive end Ty Warren was cut by the New England Patriots & he expressed the desire to finish his career in Dallas. The Falcons signed former Viking Ray Edwards to bolster their pass rush. Denver signed running back Willis MaGahee to a 3-year deal. Inside linebacker Stewart Bradley moved from Philly to Arizona. Jared Gaither was to be announced as an Oakland Raider this evening but his agent Drew Rosenhaus said not so fast, it was not a deal yet. Seattle resigned defensive tackle Brandon Mebane after it was rumored the big run-stuffer was a shoe-in to sign with Denver. The St Louis Rams added a much needed brawler to their offensive line. They signed former Falcon Harvey Dahl, a longtime Atlanta starter who adds a physical element to the Rams O-line.
Still nothing out of St. Joseph, so I'll keep my eyes & ears open, hoping for some news release of free agent signings.
