RAMS NOT THERE YET, MIZZOU NEWS & MACLIN SHOT COSTS $40K
The St. Louis Rams need to get healthy, their rebuilt roster isn't long on depth & when they lose a starter or two, it puts Steve Spagnuolo's team in a tight spot. Take that damaged depth chart on the road & the job becomes even tougher. Monday night the Rams played the Giants at the Meadowlands & it became apparent they need all hands on deck to win road games against competitive opponents. Sam Bradford had a less than impressive game completing just 22 of 46 for 331-yards. The Giants didn't do anything special, but they did convert several Ram miscues into enough points to beat St. Louis 28-16. A fumbled punt, a 65-yard return of a lateral Cadillac Williams left laying on the turf, a couple of timely penalties & the lack of any sort of running threat without Steven Jackson, doomed St.Louis. The other huge play by New York was a one-in-a-million circus catch by Domenik Hixon in the endzone just before half that you needed to see to believe. The Giants look to be major underachievers, but they're tied with the Cowboys & Eagles at 1-1. The surprising Washington Redskins lead the division at 2-0. Hixon sprained a knee & Mario Manningham suffered a consussion. The Rams brutal early schedule continues next week with Baltimore. Green Bay, Dallas & New Orleans are right after Washington in two weeks. They need to pick off a win or two in the first half if they are to win the NFC West, their schedules 2nd half is pretty easy with the exception of Pittsburgh. The Rams need to get healthy if they're to survive for a stretch run.
Green Bay safety Nick Collins will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a neck injury yesterday. It is not known if the injury could be career-threatening.
The Dallas Cowboys said on Monday quarterback Tony Romo sustained a fractured rib & a collapsed lung. Romo, who had played so poorly in the 4th quarter in last Sunday night's loss to the Jets, returned from the locker room to lead Dallas to a 27-24 overtime win. With absolutely no running attack(45-yds) he carried his team Sunday. How the 'Boys won this game was amazing. After kicker Dan Bailey kicked a 48-yard field goal with no time left in regulation to tie it at 24-all, the Niners won the overtime toss. They went three & out so they punted. The Cowboys took over at their 22-yard line. On first down Romo gave a play action fake that sucked Niner safety Dante Whitner up & Dallas WR Jesse Holley ran right by him. Romo hit him in stride & he was gone. But as he began showboating inside the 10, he was dragged down at the 2-yard line. Jason Garrett wasted no time & sent Bailey back in to kick the game winner. Holley had won a reality show contest run by Michael Irvin, the prize was a spot on the Cowboy's camp roster. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. He made the most of the opportunity & made the 53-man roster. Wait, there's more to the story. The Cowboys were favored by 3 points, had Holley dove for the endzone instead of holding the ball over his head in a pre-TD celebration, he would have scored. Everyone who had a bet on this game, pushed. If Holley had scored, the Dallas bettors would have won. Considering the Cowboys are the number one public team, I'm guessing the legal books saved at least $100k, maybe more.
Stanford lost their leading tackler, linebacker Shayne Skov, after he tore his left ACL in Saturday's win at Arizona.
At a reader's request I'm going to give you an update for Mizzou players in the NFL.
Jeremy Maclin 13 receptions for 171-yards & 2 touchdowns but dropped a crucial 4th down pass.
Sean Weatherspoon lead the Falcons in tackles with 10 & safety William Moore had 5.
Danario Alexander had 3 receptions for 122-yards & a TD
Ziggy Hood had one tackle for the Steelers & Aldon Smith had none vs. Dallas
Jacksonville QB Blaine Gabbert was 5 of 6 for 52-yards in a relief appearance vs. the Jets. I expect him to become the Jaguars' starter very soon.

'Spoon has 20 tackles in 2 games Alexander's touchdown catch
Mizzou got some good news on the injury front on Monday. Starting left defensive end Jacquies Smith returned to the lineup after dislocating his left elbow in the season opener. Linebacker Will Ebner & 3 tailbacks remain sidelined for the Oklahoma game this Saturday night. OU is a 21 1/2 point favorite.
Speaking of lines, the Chiefs are staggering underdogs this Sunday in San Diego. It's seldom you will see a two-touchdown favorite in the NFL. The Chargers are 14 1/2 point favorites. For good reason I might add, would you take the Chiefs right now? I didn't think so.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wasted no time in lowering the boom on Falcon cornerback Dunta Robinson for his helmet to helmet hit on Eagle WR Jeremy Maclin. It was clearly a fine-worthy shot, he ducked his head & launched himself at Maclin's face. Luckily he wasn't injured but Robinson is now $40,000 lighter. He was warned by the league this is his second offense for a hit like this, another one will bring a suspension.

Head & hands down, Dunta launches
The radio show was fun last night, had some phone callers & one guy called me on "throwing Todd Haley under the bus." I love callers like that, people who speak their mind & can back it up with a few facts. I hope everybody who called last night will do so again soon. Our football weekend will be enhanced with the arrival of the father & son combination of Kent & Danny P. We're really looking forward to seeing them Saturday morning.

I'm with you totally on the Chiefs and Hailey. What a train wreck. This team is not ready to play and given the injuries may not be for many a moon. Football is a tough game and needs tough players. 4-1 college, 4-1 pros, (hook with Dallas, -2 1/2)
