THE SEC "THAT'S WHAT'S LEFT," NFL INJURY REPORT, MORE CRAZY TALK FROM OHIO STATE & THE TIGER NFL SCORE CARD
The Missouri Board of Curators met yesterday & on the way out the door, a few of them spoke, most did not. One memorable quote was "that's what's left" referring to the SEC. He said the first preference was the BIG TEN, "but that conference isn't interested." I'm sure the SEC, the nations best football conference, will be thrilled to hear a prospective school refer to them as "that's what's left." This is what you get when academics enter a world they know little about, sorry, I know most all academics believe they know what's best in every situation. They're smart people who run universities but are really out of their element when making monumental decisions regarding athletics. I'm in the camp that believes Mizzou has to leave, if they don't make this move on their terms, they could get left behind with few choices available. OU & OSU recently explored leaving for the PAC-12 but in the end, they weren't welcome. Texas cares little about preserving the integrity of the Big-12, they only care about keeping a financial advantage over their competitors. If Mizzou can join the BIG TEN(doubtful) or the SEC, they better take it now.
The SMU Mustangs, fresh off their upset of #20 TCU, have extended a fresh idea for marketing the final 4 games of the season to their fans. For those remaining home games, a 4-game season ticket can be bought for $40.33. Kind of a strange figure to arrive at isn't it? The final score of the TCU upset? SMU, 40-33, get it?
More NFL injury news that could impact Sunday's games. Houston will be without all-pro wide receiver Andre Johnson for at least 3-games. Johnson underwent "a procedure" on his hamstring, being as vague as they can be. The Niners will miss NT Isaac Sopoaga with a staph infection & WR Braylon Edwards due to a sore knee. The Colts put OT Ben Ijalana on injured reserve Wednesday. RG Ryan Diem & LT Anthony Castonzo will be listed as questionable for Indianapolis. Eagles will shuffle their ailing offensive line yet again, rookie Danny Watkins will start at right guard. Philly needs more of a mauler at this position & Watkins fills the bill. They will also be without left tackle Jason Peters for awhile, a huge loss. King Dunlap will replace him for now. The Dolphins brought Brody Croyle & Trent Edwards in for a look-see since QB Chad Henne might be lost for an extended period of time. The Steelers resigned offensive lineman Max Starks to help their ailing line. Can Flozell Adams be far behind?
The Chiefs signed running back Shaun Draughn, an undrafted free agent from North Carolina. He will be placed on the practice squad. To create a spot for him there, the Chiefs cut offensive lineman Butch Lewis for the third time since September 3rd. Number one draft pick Jonathan Baldwin returned to full practice on Wednesday & coach Todd Haley hinted Baldwin could be activated for Sunday's game provided he can play effectively on special teams.

Baldwin in his Pitt days
The Super Bowl media day, always on Tuesday before the game, has always been somewhat of a circus, reporters dressed up like it's Halloween, the weirdest questions from all over the world, it's pretty crazy. You can't say the NFL doesn't know how to capitalize on any opportunity to expand their revenues & they've done it again. Selling tickets for the general public to attend media day. The only restriction is they will have to stay in the stands, not on the field with the press. The league will provide each ticket holder a portable listening device so they can hear the NFL Network's live broadcast. And people don't understand going to the draft, at least it's free. No word yet on how much tickets will be, this is strange.

Peyton Manning on Super Bowl media day
E. Gordon Gee, President of Ohio State University & Orville Redenbacher look-a-like, has made a habit of baffling comments when asked to address the state of the Buckeye football program. With all the suspensions, firings & bad publicity, Gee said Wednesday "we're the poster child of compliance," referring to all the trouble his football team has been experiencing. When you have the number of problems that require the NCAA to sort them out, your compliance office isn't doing their job. It's compliance's responsibility to keep track of athletes' jobs, cars, residences, travel & most of all their classes. Athletes who are repeat offenders doesn't speak highly for the compliance staff. Once again Gee has offered up another gaffe, making those already giggling about the spot Ohio State finds itself in, glad he's around for comic relief.
