FORGET ABOUT BOLLER, CAMPBELL & PRYOR, THE RAIDERS GO ALL-IN WITH CARSON PALMER

So much for not having any draft picks in rounds 2 thru 4 for the 2012 draft. So much for picking Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor in the supplemental draft. So much for Jason Campbell's broken collarbone that will knock him out for the remainder of this season. Jay Glazer of FOXSports is reporting the Raiders have acquired Carson Palmer from the Cincinnati Bengals. Oakland gave up their 1st round pick in next April's draft, which means they will not have a pick until the 5th round. They also gave the Bengals a "conditional" 2nd round pick in the 2013 draft. If he starts & plays effectively, that 2nd round pick becomes a 1st round pick. So essentially the Raiders gave up two first round picks for a 31-year old quarterback. They have no draft pick ammunition to fill in any holes for a couple of years, so the current roster, plus Palmer, better be the end all immediately.

Palmer is in the Bay Area right now taking his physical & when he passes it, the trade will be finalized with the league office. On the day after the late Al Davis was laid to rest, his team, the Silver & Black, have pulled the trigger on the biggest deal in franchise history. It is unknown if Palmer would be active for their game Sunday with Kansas City.

So now what does this mean for Jason Campbell & Terrelle Pryor? Can the Raiders afford so much cap space to be allocated at one position. Yes it's the most important position on the field, but it could be a problem. I doubt this is in anyone's mind right now, they just want to get Palmer into a Raiders' uniform & begin prepping him to play the rest of the season.
