NFL INJURY NOTES, NO MORE NUTT, ANOTHER ALL-STAR GAME & KU FANS CAN KISS MY.........

Another WSOP marathon tonight, it didn't finish until 2:30AM, so I'm late getting started on the Penn State post plus this one. Better get to it. Heads up fantasy football owners, here's your early injury report.

Oakland RB Dareen McFadden hasn't practiced this week so far & since they play Thursday night, I think it's safe to say he won't play against the Chargers in a key divisional matchup.

Also among the missing for that game will be San Diego WR Malcolm Floyd.

Pittsburgh WR Emanuel Sanders won't play this Sunday in Cincinnati because he had arthroscopic knee surgery on Tuesday. He missed the Ravens game because his mother died in Texas last Friday. The Steelers have a bye next week & Sanders is expected to be ready in 2-3 weeks.

Cowboy WR Miles Austin sustained a strained hamstring & will miss 2-4 weeks.

Colts TE Dallas Clark suffered what head coach Jim Caldwell is calling "a significant leg injury' & will miss more than just this week's game with Jacksonville. Backup TE Brody Eldridge has a broken hand & will not play Sunday either.

A major college injury to confirm comes from Stanford. Wide receiver Chris Owusu will be held out of the big Oregon showdown after suffering his second concussion in two weeks. Tight end Zach Ertz is doubtful because of a lower leg injury. These two are Andrew Luck's favorites.

While I was watching the WSOP tonight I forgot there were two MAC games scheduled for this evening. I won't bore you with the details of the game won by Northern Illinois 45-14, it's the other game I'm going to comment on. The Toledo Rockets whipped the Western Michigan Broncos 66-63. This wasn't one of those 4 overtime games. They scored 129-points in regulation. The games featured 1,439-yards of total offense, 804 by W. Michigan. There were 10 turnovers & 16 penalties. Broncos QB Alex Carder(Shawnee Mission West) threw for 548-yards & 7 touchdowns. On the other side, Toledo's Adonis Thomas ran for 216-yards & a pair of touchdowns as part of the Rockets 419-yards on the ground. Wonder who was named defensive player of the game?

Ole Miss has confirmed head coach Houston Nutt will finish the season but will be sent packing afterward. Nutt's team has been a major disappointment the past two seasons.

The St. Louis Rams did something Sunday in Arizona that had never been done in the 92-year history of the NFL. They scored 4 points in the 3rd quarter. Scoring 4 points in a quarter had never been done. They recorded two safeties as their only scores of the period. Weird huh?

Despite their denials, a new name for both Arrowhead & Kaufman Stadiums may be right over the horizon. Clark Hunt said Monday the added revenue was important for the Chiefs to be able to remain competitive, being a small-market team & all. They need the money to remain competitive? What about the $26 million they didn't spend this year in salary cap money? What about the $22 million in salary cap money the team failed to spend last season? I'm beginning to doubt the sincerity of such claims.

The New England Patriots released DT Albert Haynesworth on Tuesday. Several Patriot sources said he quit on them Sunday against the Giants. I have to believe wide receiver Chad Ochocinco can't be far behind. He hasn't caught a pass in the past three games.

The NFLPA announced Tuesday there will be another college all-star game. It will be in that football wasteland, Los Angeles, at the home of the Galaxy soccer team. Tom Flores will coach one team & Dick Vermeil the other. The "AstroTurf NFLPA Collegiate Bowl" as it will be known will include 100 player eligible for the NFL Draft. The best news is the rosters will include underclassmen who have declared for the draft. The game will be played January 21st, the week before the Senior Bowl.

After bitching about Mizzou's move to the SEC the other day, I got a few emails from KU fans. One said "enjoy your 2-10 record in the SEC." You mean like KU has this season? The Jayhawks have such a bright outlook when it comes to their football program. If it weren't for 2 out of conference games, KU would be 0'fer 2011. Another told me the real reason Mizzou was leaving was they couldn't neat KU in hoops. Really? That's the best you could come up with? In case you hadn't noticed, this site is called Rich's Football Report, hoops get no coverage. Normally I'm not a ball-busting, trash-talking goof like the people who sent along their warmest thoughts regarding Mizzou's departure for the SEC. But the emails just struck me wrong & now I'd like for Gary Pinkel's Tigers to drop about 63 on the 'Hawks November 26th. Crushing them on the way out the door would be nice. Sorry Rude, sorry Paul, but I wasn't trashing KU in any way, I directed my anger at Texas & Oklahoma. So when the unsolicited crap started filling my inbox, I kinda snapped, altho one of them sent me a pretty cool picture of himself in all his Jayhawk glory.

Your reporting on the Penn State nightmare is as good as I've seen.
