"1 IN A MILLION" SAYS JOSEY'S SURGEON, FIESTA BOWL TROUBLES CONTINUE & NFLPA ALL-STAR GAME HITS A SNAFU
Mizzou running back Henry Josey underwent surgery late Sunday to begin repairing his devastated knee. I was incorrect in reporting his injury, he didn't tear his PCL, he ruptured his patellar tendon, which is much worse, plus he suffered a torn meniscus. The five hour hour surgery repaired everything but his torn ACL, which will have to wait another 3 months. "In over 26-years, I've never seen anything like this, it's a tragic, fluke kind of injury, it's literally one in a million" said Dr. Pat Smith. Another part of this story I didn't tell you, Texas head coach Mack Brown walked clear across the field during the injury timeout to try to comfort Josey. He recruited Josey hard when he was a star of the Angleton H.S. team in Angleton Texas. That was truly a class act by a class individual.

USC All-American wide receiver Robert Woods didn't practice again on Wednesday & his status for Saturday's game at Oregon is unknown. Woods is hampered by ankle & shoulder injuries.
You can scratch any hopes of Arkansas' running back Knile Davis playing this season. Razorback's coach Bobby Petrino said Wednesday even tho Davis had been practicing, he will not appear in a game this season.
I'm very happy to announce the new head coach of the New Mexico Lobos.......Bob Davie. The former Notre Dame coach & ESPN color man will assume the post at season's end. The reason I'm so happy about it it I can't stand to listen to Davie ramble on when he does games for ESPN, he's absolutely brutal. He's worse than David Norrie & that's saying something. Good luck coach, this is one of the 5 worst football programs in the country.
Speaking out in support of Joe Paterno can be hazardous to your career, just ask Franco Harris. The former Penn State star & member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame has lost his position as a celebrity spokesperson for the meadows Race Track & Casino. After speaking out publicly in support of his former coach, the Meadows felt like he was more of a liability than an asset & he was dismissed.
Mike McQueary's claims of speaking to the police in emails to former teammates are being disputed by the State College Police Chief, that's two down & one to go. The Pennsylvania State Police have denied ever hearing from McQueary as well. That leaves only the Penn State Campus Police. If they state McQueary did notify them & they failed to act, the liability issue with the college goes up about ten-fold. McQueary's credibility is sinking fast.
The Feds charged Fiesta Bowl Chief Operating Office Natalie Wisneski with filing false income tax returns. She's also facing federal campaign finance & conspiracy charges. She & former CEO John Junker are charged with soliciting campaign contributions from employees & promising to pay them back with bowl funds. The bowl has already paid a $1 million fine for abusing expense reports & paying for trips, golf club memberships etc that had nothing to do with the bowl.
The Chargers have placed 4-time Pro Bowl offensive guard Kris Dielman on injured reserve. Dielman suffered a concussion three weeks ago in New York & then suffered a violent seizure on the plane going back to San Diego.
The Chiefs lost linebacker Justin Cole off their practice squad on Wednesday when the St. Louis signed him to their active 53-man roster. He was replaced by former Army linebacker Caleb Campbell, who was assigned to the practice squad.
I told you last week about the all-star game the NFLPA is putting together for next January in Los Angeles. It was to be a new idea in that underclassmen who have declared for the draft would be invited to play in the game. This was revolutionary because before, only seniors could play in post season all-star games. Now a problem has surfaced, according to the CBA signed last August, NFL teams are not allowed to attend practices or games that have underclassmen as participants. This means no active NFL can coach the teams, no NFL scouts, general managers & coaches can attend the practices. So what good is it? Kids risking injury to practice for & play in a game no one from the NFL can participate in, no one thought of this before?
