PINKEL CHARGED WITH DWI & A FEW QUICK NOTES
Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel was arrested & charged with DWI last night about 10:15PM. Pinkel said in a statement he had dinner with a few friends & afterward was stopped by a Boone County deputy who took the Tigers' coach into custody after failing a field sobriety test. Once again we see a sports figure making millions of dollars a year who refuses to spend $40 for a cab ride home. Unbelievable. Both Pinkel & athletic director Mike Aldon have issued statements this morning. Pinkel's is of course very apologetic while Alden's is exactly what you'd expect, disturbed yet controlled. I expect Pinkel will be suspended for 1 game, probably this Saturday when the Tigers play Texas Tech. I would be very surprised if he were suspended for the Kansas game a week from Saturday.

The Seattle Seahawks have been dealt a serious blow in their efforts to rebuild under coach Pete Carroll. Rookie right tackle James Carpenter suffered a torn ACL during yesterday's practice & will be lost for the season. Rookie right guard John Moffitt also sustained a season-ending knee injury in Sunday's game vs. the Baltimore Ravens. Carpenter was their 1st round draft pick, Moffitt was a 3rd. Both rookies started every game this season.
The police chief of the Borough of State College Pennsylvania has confirmed they have no record of Mike McQueary ever notifying them of anything regarding Jerry Sandusky or sexual assault allegations. Annemarie Mountz, a spokesperson for the Penn State campus police also denied McQueary's emails claiming he "had talked to police." That's now three for three when it comes to police department denials, unless McQueary spoke to the FBI, which would have no jurisdiction in this case, his credibility is probably hovering around zero with his former teammates who received his email.
If you haven't had the opportunity to see the #2 Oklahoma State Cowboys in action this season, may I recommend their Friday night game at Iowa State, a 7PM kickoff on ESPN. It will be interesting to hear how my favorite ESPN broadcast team, Joe Tessitore & Rod Gilmore, react to the Cowboys & their high-powered offense. Other games that might interest you:
#16 Nebraska at #18 Michigan 11AM ESPN
Texas Tech at Missouri 2:30 ABC
#1 LSU at Ole Miss 6PM ESPN
#13 Kansas State at #23 Texas 7PM FX
#5 Oklahoma at #22 Baylor 7PM ABC(check your local listings)
OR
USC at #4 Oregon 7PM ABC(check your local listings)

I think the real problem with McQueary being caught in a lie to cover his ass is that he is the primary witness in a number of charges against Sandusky. If it weren't for Sandusky admitting to so much during the interview with Costas, it would seem he'd have a much stronger defense.
I can already hear Sandusky's attorney asking McQ on the stand...."but, you were lying about reporting this incident to the police, why should we even believe you it ever took place?"
Unreal
